The betting is how long will Sir Alex wear that zipped up jacket under his overcoat, I know we have had a chilly spell but it is May! Also as part of the Man Utd austerity measures and being a Scot does he recycle his chewing gum
of course they have spent money they are man utd one of the best sides in the world and why are they good? because of good management, good academy, and good football, they have done it the proper way of using local players and british players throughout the years, the take young kids and nurture them for years until they are ready for first team football. chelsea first and now man city dont care they pay silly money and outrageous wages to compete with man utd, arsenal and liverpool's of this world and its spoiling the sportsmanship of the game in this country. its not how good your coaching skills are these days its how much money you have got and for me its spoiling the game...
There is a slight difference with the money spent by Manure and citeh, Chelski. Yes Manure have spent lots. But hasnt most of that money been generated by the club and their world wide suport and branding. Where as the other two have just come in with a rich benefactor and signed players at will and in fact almost ruined players carrers. Take the likes of Johnson, Milner and Parker when at Chelsea. they were just not playing enough football and signed almost to stop other teams having them. Citeh are top and will probably win the league, but with what have been invested over the last couple of years that could have beeen Accrington stanley. By the way i don't like any of them. On fergusson he is the most irritating, moaning pain in the arse manager there is. But all have us have to admit the guy is a genius.
All the top six are the same, overspending on average players and driving the costs up for everyone, they are all guilty of it, and they are the primary reason why clubs literally bankrupt themselves to compete. I don't hate any club, but I hate the business practices of all these clubs. To say Man Utd do things properly is preposterous though, they do not and are as guilty as the others
This. For as long as I have been ALIVE Man. U. have been buying the title. Goalkeepers: David De Gea - Signed on "29 June for a british record fee for a goalkeeper of around £17 million" Van Der Sar - "Van der Sar signed for Manchester United on 10 June 2005 for a reported fee of £2 million" (actual figure undisclosed) Lindegaard - "undisclosed fee believed to be around £3.5m" - A second choice goalkeeper, more expensive than your RECORD signing. (Danny Graham, please correct me If i'm wrong here.) Defenders: Jones - Blackburn "At least 16.5 million" Vidic - "Signed for Man United for around £7m in January 2006" Ferdinand - "The fee included a basic element in the high £20 millions"; "five-year deal to become the most expensive British footballer in history" Evra - "transfer fee of around £5.5 million" Smalling - "undisclosed fee thought to be in the region of £8 million" Midfielders: Young - Villa; "Young completed a move to Manchester United for a reported fee ranging between £15 million and £20 million" Nani - "Nani was sold to Manchester United F.C. for €25.5 million Roy Keane - Signed for "Manchester United for £3.75 million, a British transfer record at the time" - Buying out the league, in 1993. Carrick - "confirmed the transfer fee as £14 million, potentially rising to £18.6 million" "sixth most expensive player acquired by Manchester United at the time" (2006) Park - "Park signed for the Premier League side for £4 million" (2005) Anderson - "The transfer fee Porto announced was €30 million, which was equivalent to around £20.4 million as of May 2007" Valencia - Signed for an "undisclosed fee, rumoured to be in the region of £16 million" Forwards: Rooney - "Everton; £25.6 million deal" Hernandez - "signed for Manchester United for an undisclosed fee" Berbatov - "costing the club £30 million" Ronaldo -signed for €15 million (£12.24 million) (No, he is not currently playing for them, but he won major titles with them) Please, tell me again, how Manchester United have never bought the league! Edit: Total money spent on these "first team" transfers: A minimum of £253.09 Million pounds; (not including all the transfers)
I can't. Because you're right. Dai on Man U: "because of good management, good academy, and good football" ....and Man City haven't got any of those three? It's happened faster for them because of their owners but you insist on making out that Man U have a starting 11 from the Academy. They don't - far from it. As others have said, the bigger clubs have all spent stupid money on trying to buy the title and Man U are very much included.
Interesting debate, and I can see both sides of the coin. But I do think we have to acknowledge that a good portion of Utd's money stems from world wide popularity and merchandise sales. This can be directly attributed to the phenomenal length of time that they have been competing at the top of the premier league, and so, when comparing first team expenditure, it is worth keeping in mind the relatively small amount Utd spent during the early years of the Prem compared to the Newcastles, Blackburns, and Leeds. Ferguson essentially earned the right to spend astronomical amounts on players nowadays (however ludicrous the values are) by winning, and competing for, the league on a smaller budget in the years gone by. Can the same really be said for City, Chelsea, or Liverpool? Arsenal, however, deserve similar praise to Utd as, again, their popularity and finance stems from success that was originally earned, and not bought.
Anyone who thinks Manu have not bought the title since the inception of the Premier League, is deluded, but we all know Dai don't deal in facts, and he is wearing his Manu glasses, so what do you expect from Dai, anyway Dai sit down mate, because your not going to win the title, and old 'Bacon face' and you, can lump it!................... please log in to view this image
was in bali a couple of weeks ago and had a swans t shirt on - they all thought i was a pom so football goes a long way
ban me scott, ffs this is childish and the way KJ talks to ppl is much worse when they dare to disagree with him, same as dai
I can't ban anyone, and don't want to. I also don't have to agree with everyone, and frequently I don't. How people care to "debate" is their choice and there are a number of long running "feuds" (if you can call them that) that I find excruciatingly boring but most people seem to have decided to tolerate one another without resorting to name calling. I say the same things to Dai and others, not just you.
I think it's just the way Man City have done it that pisses people off. Most teams buy 3 or 4 players in the summer whereas Man City bought what feels like 40 players in 2 seasons. I think why people see it as fake is because not many world class players grew up dreaming of playing for Man City like they did with Man Utd, Barcelona, Madrid, Milan etc and the feeling is that they are at Man City solely for the money -as opposed to it being their dream to play for Man City. Anyway - I'd still prefer Utd to win the title. Even if their side has cost a lot, they have still produced millions worth of talent since the start of the Premier League. How much would Giggs, Scholes, Neville Bros, Beckham, Butt etc been worth at their peak ?
Why do you take offence at absolutely everything I say? My comment was: "Is them thinking you was a pom a good thing?" Meaning I was taking the piss out of the likes of me - a pom! FFS grow up. Brits can take the piss out of themselves, see? Not the first time an apology is due from you!!!
