Just been reading in the Saturday edition of the ever reliable Daily Fail that Scott Dann has a release fee in his contract of £6 million. I know some of you are fans of the lad so the question is: Would you be willing to spend this on him or look elsewhere? My view is "No, he's worth much less. Perhaps a million and some carrots". The Daily Fail states West Ham and Reading will lead the chase. Another thing, where do the papers get these stories..?!

He's decent but I think we can do better for cheaper.

The price is too high I think besides Blackburn fans have been on Talksport saying he has been rubbish this season, if he had been any good you would think they would have said he stood out among the dross.

I think the papers get these stories by speaking to agents and then putting the name to another manager. The other manger won't say the guy is tosh and says he's ok. The paper then takes this as said manager wants to buy him and runs a story.

I wish we still had Jan-Paul Saeijs.

I'm sure that's at least partly true - kind of makes me mad, agents and the 'news' flogging their product and his release value before the curtain falls. I'm sure there are a couple of clubs who'll bid around that price, one thing I love about Adkins and Cortese is they generally get full value for the money. They'll probably find several diamonds for £6 million

With our transfer business its usually for a non disclosed fee. But we tend to have an idea of what players cost. If Cortese can continue as he has done i.e tempting the likes of Guly, Papa Waigo and Chung here for I would imagine to be around the 1.5 million mark, just think what they could unearth and get for 6 million. Should be an interesting summer!

Our old gaffer Pardew and Alan Carrs dad have rightly received a lot of praise for some very good signings, but these bargins still come with a price tag well above our average spend.

    Cabaye - £4m
    Tiote - £3.5m
    Cisse - £10m

If any of the above were sold in the summer then they would make a significant return of course, but the initial outlay for foreign talent could be deemed too much of a risk to Saints.
These price tags also underline how Scott Dann will never go for £6 million

No way is he worth £6million. His mentality will be shot for this season after consecutive relegation's. I honestly do not think it would be wise to move for him. I expect us to sign a relatively unknown CB.

£6 million? On his Birmingham form, yes, but on this season's form I wouldn't.
