Pards Interview Highlights from BBC Radio Newcastle

Highlights so far.....

Simmo- has been given a contract offer and it's up to him and his agent... Pards wants to keep him
Guthrie- contract up and less likely to stay as wants regular first team football
Colo- Pardew says he's his player of the season

 

Pards thinking of getting a specialist set play coach in for next season as he concedes we should be scoring more from set play... particularly free kicks...

 

says the best decision he has made as manager ever is..... to appoint JC as number 2

 

Pards is going to sign a new CB and a young CB (currently on trial?)...

 

he's just said Demba was the key to getting Cisse and that there's a player he's after who is very close to Cabaye so hopefully that will work.....

 

he's negotiating with Demba to try to get him to stay. he says its not about money for Demba... it's about being loved and European football.

Pardew saying Willo is ahead of Saylor, and we have no dominant aerial player...

Got to disagree and can't believe he think Willo is ahead of him, does he mean simply because Saylor is injured and he needs to earn his place back?

Or truly because he thinks Willo is better?

Saylor is easily superior. No question about that. Willo is overpowered and outjumped far too much for his size.

Saylor never lets himself get overpowered, and I know he's not in the same league as the likes of Vermalen, Kompany, Vidic for aerial power, but he's great in the air.

Also Pardew stated that we've been disappointing from set plays... the only set play we've attempted is the crappy back post ball to Willo or Saylor.

When Saylor is allowed to do his own thing from set plays, he looks like scoring nearly all the time.

 

Looks like we are going to sign Mathieu Debuchy

 

My dad has been telling me we're after a French RB and Pardew confirmed it's Cabaye's old team mate, so yeah.

 

John Carver sees Santon's long term future as a fullback and not a winger. Says Santon has improved defensively but needs to stop putting his arms behind his back. Also said Santon struggled settling in at first as he was the only Italian speaking guy at the club. Now Santon has grasped the English and Geordie language and says "alreet son" to Carver when coming to the training ground in the morning

I think he's saying this to motivate Willo and improve his confidence. We all know Stevie is bawwwws!
