MONEY which was supposed to be donated to good causes by Portsmouth Football Club has not been passed on to the charities, The News can reveal.

The club’s administrators PKF have confirmed that about £8,400 is outstanding to organisations dating back to before the club went into administration in February.

The cash was raised after a £2 administration fee was placed on tickets bought on match days at the start of the 2011/12 season, and fans were told the cash would be donated to charity.

The funds would be split between the Pompey Sports Education Foundation (PSEF) and whichever charity was collecting at Fratton Park on the day of the match.

But the administrators have confirmed that charities did not receive the admin fees from games held between October and December.

Almost £6,400 is owed to PSEF while the rest was to be split between Eastleigh-based charity Simon Says, U Support, The Rainbow Centre in Fareham, the British Legion and Help for Hospices, which teamed up with the Football League as its official partner charity for the 2011/12 season.

The games in question were the fixtures against Barnsley on October 15, Doncaster Rovers on October 22, Nottingham Forest on November 5, Leicester City on November 26 and Coventry City on December 3.

The £2 admin fee was dropped upon PKF’s appointment, the accountancy firm said.

Pompey’s parent company Convers Sports Initiatives (CSI) went into administration on November 29 and the club followed on February 17.

This is the second time the club has left charities without cash they were promised.

When the club went into administration in February 2010 several organisations including the Tom Prince Cancer Trust were not paid money they were owed. The club later reimbursed them.

Trevor Birch, the club’s administrator, said he had sympathy with the charities.

He said: ‘This is a desperately sad situation and it should not have been allowed to happen. Nobody wants to see charities losing out and I sympathise with everyone that is out of pocket.’

Paula Wiseman, operations manager at Simon Says, said the charity was owed around £350.

She said: ‘We went bucket collecting outside Fratton Park for the Doncaster Rovers game. It was great and the club said we would get a percentage of all ticket sales.

‘Subsequently with the situation they were in, the administrators are trying to put our case forward to get that money for us – it would be a huge benefit to us.

‘Pompey have been really good in supporting charities in the community. Initially I didn't think there was a problem and we were arranging cheque presentations.’

Clare Acklam, fundraising manager at the Rainbow Centre, said the charity held a bucket collection at the Coventry City fixture.

She said: ‘We haven’t been paid the money yet but we have been asked to fill out a form by the administrators saying that we are owed money. We were quite surprised to know we were owed money. We are owed £292 from the ticket percentages.

‘I am hopeful of getting the money back. We would like to work with them again as collections make a difference to us.’

Utter disgrace of a club( not the fans they did their part).
This is the 2ND time isn't it?, and with former FA Lampitt in-charge as well.

their completely screwed, its a far worse situation than saints were in 3 years ago./ i dont think anyone will buy portsmouth. they'd have to be silly rich and not worried about taking on £60m debt, poor stadium, league 1 etc ...
the people owed money are going to have to write off most the debt if their to have any chance

If you want to know why our attendances are so low, Stories like this are the answer. This is no pride in being a Portsmouth supporter nowadays, just embarrassment and there hasn't been any pride since about 2009 (pride in our club as a whole I mean, not our players or managers).

Its the one thing we have to thank Lowe for. Whatever your opinion of him, it cannot be denied that he left a legacy of ground, academy and training facilities that put us in a position to be bought.

Sorry state of affairs to be honest. That's tantamount to stealing in my book. It is unbelievable if it were not fact. Pompey, your rep has all ready gone down the pan. This guys, is someone just pulling the chain. If this had happened at Saints. I have to say I would consider withdrawing my support from the club I have supported all my life. It is down right shameful.

People need to be brought to account, simple as that. No more passing the club on to hide paper work, no more 'I'll step back in' from Chainrai, the people who are responsible need to lose some of their own money. I feel sorry for the fans today.

I'm not surprised by this at all and I doubt if anyone else is.

They told us it was all ok and that Lampitt was a man of integrity. What a joke that turned out to be.

They should be chucked out of the league and only allowed back in, when they've cleaned up their act. They are a disgrace to English football, and their supporters have the nerve to call anyone with anything to do with Southampton a Scummer. There's nothing more Scummy than stealing from charities, TWICE.

Didn't they bang on and on about how the FL were looking over their books all the time.

What about that stupid MP who stood up and asked the PM a question, perhaps we'll hear a comment from her. It's worth bearing in mind that she's asking for public money to bail them out again.

I would be deeply ashamed if we acted in this manner, not once, but twice. Yet, if you look at pompey online it's "Scummers this, Scummers that". A period of silance from people like that MP, Baldy Dinnage, the idiot bell ringer, and all their other cheer leaders would be most welcome. Perhspa the "Worlds Greatest fans (tm)" should shut up, be quiet and reflect the damage their clubs done to English football's reputation.

Ther should indeed be a calling to account of those responsible, but the fans have no case to answer on this one. They gave generously to the collections on the day and made good the losses to St Johns Ambulance, etc last time out. I can certainly understand them being beyond embarrassed about those running their club though. Until Pompey can get clear of the leeches, I can't see how they are going to stop this sort of thing happening again.

Plenty of people on this forum don't use the S word. I mean, have you ever heard Meowth use the S word?

And you think most Portsmouth fans aren't?

The problem is, Chainrai and co can do whatever they like and what it does to Portsmouth's reputation or the general state of the club is of absolutely no concern to them. The fans have had no influence on how the club us run but invariably, they are the ones who suffer from this rubbish.

Personally, if Chainrai comes back as owner, I think I might boycott Fratton Park.

This is money stolen from the fans in the first place - as they were charged the £2 extra on tickets. Once again the fans were lied to. David Lampitt has issued an apology, accepting the buck stopped with him. Chanrai put the £2 charge on initially, for his own pocket, CSI kept the charge on the tickets but said they would give it to charity.

If David Lampitt was head of compliance at the FA you have to wonder at the ethics of the upper echelons of the football world.

It is indeed very sad. I really feel for you Pompoy fans who just want to "love" their team each week. The world is full of ****bags sometimes and it is sad that a few have taken it upon themselves to get involved with your club.

I really hope that there is a better future for you fans.
