We once had a really homest and hard working player called Tommy smith, that would sometime score the odd goal.
    Would play him over SWP
    so
    Kenny
    Taiwo Anton Clint Onouha
    Taarbs Mackie Barton Traore/Smith
    Cisse/Smith
    Zamora

Playing mackie in the middle wouldn't be for his ball playing as i can't see us having too much possession! If we have a player with more energy, enthusiasm, work rate and attitude then please let me know who else could fill the void!!

Traore can play a defensive midfield role, better than mackie can.

Was quite calm, but beginning to get the Fear. Going to have to take Danny's advice, before my thumbs go weird.
    All will be well.

Lads, (& Beth) we don't need midfielders anyway, we need a goalie and 1o defenders.

You'd play One Size rather than Cisse or Mackie then Nuts?

I started off the week feeling quite optimistic, but with Diakate out, my hope has diminished to the point where, frankly, if we get anything from the City game, it'll be the biggest shocker since David was practising with his sling-shot and accidentally floored Gol, the local knuckle-dragger. Unless City completely bottle it, we have to rely on Stoke. And frankly, if we had to play Stoke (away) to stay in the Prem, we'd fugging well find a way to beat them. And that's what I'm thinking Bolton will do.

So I'm bracing myself for the worst, and telling myself that, hey, it won't be so bad in the Championship. There'll be Millwall, and Marlon King, and we'll give that nice man Neil Warnock a go at us. Haven't I always enjoyed my trips to Selhurst Park? And there'll be more games, and lots of high balls and Steve Claridge. I hope you don't mind me getting this off my chest. I feel ready for relegation now...

    <wah>

Come on, r's. Perform a miracle on Sunday...

I personally don't think Traore is good enough or smart enough to play in central midfield. I don't mind him playing but only on the left midfield. Central mid is too important.

How about Fitz Hall? He's played in that position before. I have no idea whether or not Luke Young could play there. Can Taiwo play it?

If we're gonna resort to playing Fitz Hall, the team would do better to concede the City fixture and offer their support to Stoke from the Britannia terraces ...

If we're going to play Fitz-Hall in center midfield, we might as well book our train tickets to Barnsley right now.

SB, i only said this in jest. Was thinking that even if we play 10 defenders and actually park the bus in front of our goal, me thinks it won't be enough. Being serious, we need our best available 11 on the pitch. Zamora, Adel, Cisse etc have to play to at least carry some sort of threat. We also need players who will have the energy to last 90 minutes of chasing shadows. Mackie is perfect for this. In a way so too is SWP. He may not offer us too much going forward, but he will run all day and defend. We may just need his energy. If Diakite is still out, i suspect SWP may play for his engine.

PS, if by some miracle we are still level after 20-25 minutes, watch how nervous the citeh fans will become. I know it sounds simple, but the longer we don't concede the more desperate Citeh will become and that just might play into our hands. I expect them to throw the kitchen sink and everything else at us for the entire 90 mins, hence i jokingly said we need 10 defenders.

I got it mate and was attempting to make another joke - we are now so tense we have to explain attempted humor to each other. Jesus, roll on Sunday.

If as it seems we have to go 4-4-2 i would play Traore on the left with Adel in the middle behind BZ & his lordship. Remember how well we did against them at home by getting into wide positions and putting in decent crosses, hence Traore & Jamie out wide. It really is a big ask to get something but stranger things have happened, so Keep the Faith, a point is achievable.

Wed get killed with Adel in the middle in a 442. Wed have to have the more defensive minded Traore in the middle.

Traore would be better on the left but Adels defensive liabilities would more than cancel any benefit to Traore going out wide.
