He's supposed to be very good mates with Cabaye and has told him that he would welcome a move to the premier league and to newcaslte. There was a story on it a few weeks ago.
As regards Simpson, good player involved in a very decent team, but totaly replaceable. If he thinks he is going to be offered terms like Barton or Nolan got when they were moved on then he will be in for a rude awakening. Unless he is aware of an imminent new right back coming to the club, then I can't see any other reason apart from money why a first choice right back would leave a club playing European football.

    Looking that way.

See who'll want him for more than we're prepared to pay and for how long.

Santon will be moved to right-back. Simpson knows this so won't sign a new contract. Toon will be going after a left-back this summer.

Santon is a much better player than Simpson and if we can get a decent left back to take over from him we'll be looking even better than we have been.

Personally I think Santon's fine on the left. He seems to cut in anyway when we've seen him on the right, on the left at least he's cutting in on his stronger foot.

Santon is fine on the left but Fergie can cover for him there till we find a full time replacement for Simpson.

I was thinking the same thing. Simpson has stuck it up the doubters this season. Had a fantastic season and done really well for the team. Too many short memories on here. Him and Raylor were hugely influential in the initial unbeaten run which basically set the tone for the season. Their goal line clearances and pure commitment to the cause were worth as mcuh as Ba's goals. Its a team effort. Don't get me wrong he's had a few mares but in the main he's been easily one of oour most dependable and consistent players.

Santon will definetly move to right back. He's done a fine job on the left since coming in and has been really well managed by Pardew. But the bottom line is he is a right back and will end up playing there. It would be daft long term to not get the best out of him by continuing to play out of position. Beauty is we'll always have that additonal option on the left now. It'll be difficult to retain Simpson once he does move over but that is just football. Players want to play. In an ideal world you'd retain both because it would be very balanced. one attacking full back in Santon, one defensively minded one in Simpson. Perfect for Pardew but not really realistic.

My theory is that he knows Santon will switch to RB so wants away... he'll end up at a promoted club on better money as they will be desperate to stay in the prem... and the lotto numbers will be.......

I'm thinking we might be looking at Adil Rami at Valencia after Pardews comments about aerial ability and Cabaye knowing the target well. He is very strong in the air and Cabaye knows him well from his Lille days.
