Roysten Drenthe has accused Lionel Messi of repeatedly calling him a negro.

Sounds very familiar dont you think.

Drente took his time to report this though. Which is a bit odd.

It will be interesting to see how this turns out.

He has also said Higuin and Heinze said it to. But he acknowledges that the term is not racist in Argentina.

"The last time the players met, Drenthe claims Messi also refused to shake his hand at the end of the match. "

It's deja vu all over again.

Be interesting to see how the Spanish FA handle it. Will they want to make an 'example' of Messi?

So Barca are saying Drenthe is a liar then? World went mad when Kenny said Evra was lying. So why no backlash to this?

Obviously there won't be a backlash, it's Messi. He's the golden poster-child of today's football. I'm not going to look too much into it as I don't believe there was a conspiracy or anything, but it just goes to show that the "not racist in Argentina" argument was valid. (Messi is from Rosario, which speaks Rioplatense Spanish just like Uruguay)

Messi isnt a golden boy who can do no wrong, little midget **** has a habit of spitting at other players and isnt afraid to lash out himself.

Lets be honest, it almost certainly happened considering spain is the most racist country outside of eastern europe and russia but nothing will be done as the spanish dont care, they prefer chucking bananas at their own black players.

The FA have responded to this incident by banning Suarez from the Olympics. Also, Fergie is seen running around the Nou Camp telling anyone who will listen that he said ******, rather than negro!!!

Messi should take the same advice that Matin Luther Ferguson gave Schmeical when accused of this by Ian Wright - AND DENY EVERYTHING!

FFS lad, don't be honest because if if the Spanish FA is like our own, and if Mourinho has as much influence there as Slurguson has here, you'll be found guilty of calling him negro (and blackie and nigga too) for a number of time plucked from thin air that even your accuser didn't scefity, as long as it gets you the reqisite ban demanded by Drenthe's manager.

Tbh in this country, if you are acused of racism, you are guilty until proven innocent. At least in football. It will be very different for Messi.

What we have here is an example of a player saying negro to a black player cos that is acceptable in his culture...clearly this is commonplace with South American players.

It will be dealt with properly imo by the authorities (if in fact it is dealt with at all) because they will understand the cultural complexities involved! However, I am surprised that there is not the same reaction to this as there was for Suarez, surely the outrage should be the same, i.e it is racism and should be stamped out!

Yet the United fans are silent, why?

I think we should leave this well alone and let the right people deal with it. I'm not saying that the said people will deal with it in the right way but that it doesn't directly involve our club.

It's down to Barcelona and the relevant authorities to deal with this, the more we link it to our club the more we involve our club.

Of course they do and now we are latching on to it. This is the last thing we need, let Barca deal with it. Our club has been dragged through the coals rightly or wrongly is a mater of opinion and endless debate, I don't welcome this story.

Drenth has waiting a very long time to mention this. I think that could go against him if this goes to any kind of trial.

True it doesn't directly involve Liverpool, but it is a similar situation to one that Liverpool were involved in and so the reaction to this is relevant!

I know, I just feel that it will cause Liverpool problems and get people arguing about Suarez/Evra again. People will talk about this and why not it's going to be a big topic. I just hope it doesn't cause Liverpool any bad publicity.
