Kenny should try buy Fernando Torres

Discussion in 'Liverpool' started by john3.1, May 10, 2012.

  1. These debates make me smile.

I have as much a dislike for Torres after the way he left as the next Liverpool fan, but when I see supporters saying they wouldn't have him back it makes me laugh. It is one thing saying you don't want someone to come back and another if they actually did. If Torres returned for a reasonable fee and starting banging in the goals like he used to, the way he left would soon be forgotten. He would never returned to the levels of idolisation that he received before but he would still be worshiped!

As for preferring Carroll over Torres, I hope that's a joke...????

PS - I also find it amusing that Gerrard and Carragher have recently said that Suarez is the best forward in the league and wouldn't swap him for anyone. Only two short seasons ago they were saying the exact same thing about Fernando Torres! And then consider that Van Persie and Sergio Aguero are in this league too!

    It's called an opinion.

  3. Fair enough, everyone is entitled to an opinion, just don't see the logic behind it. Even going on current form, Carroll as looked better recently but so as Torres, especially after bagging a hat-trick. However, when off form Torres as looked decent without scoring for most of the season. Carroll just looked lazy.

All factors considered, would you actually prefer Torres to Carroll?

Eighteen months ago I'd have agreed with you, but now I'd take Carroll all day long.

I'd have to go for Carroll in the debate, age is on his side, I still hope that he turns out to be player that we paid for. That may be foolish, time will tell. Torres would be a risk and would not be sold cheap. Carroll is bought and paid for and is still a risk. Toss of the coin stuff, I'll go for the guy in the red shirt.

Andy seems finally to have decided he wants to play for us. I hope his remembering that he's a footballer isn't just because the Euros are coming up.
If he continues to improve next season we just might have a decent player on our hands.
Doesn't look like 'Nando will ever regain the form he once had, but regardless of that, the manner of his leaving means he'd never fit in again, imo.
I doubt he'd want to return anyway.

I can't see whats wrong with it. On his day he's one of the best around, far better than Suarez. The Chelsea system doesn't suit him, because he's been crap, you could probably get him for about 10-15 million.

But he hasn't been "on his day" for years. He'd lost it well before he left us. Just the odd glimpse, like he shows very occasionally with Chelsea.
The question is can he ever get it back?

Nah, that Falcao fellow seems a good replacement idea. RvP won't leave anyway, we'll have CL football next season (as long as Ramsey gets injured in a car accident prior to sunday and doesn't feature at all) and thats basically what RvP wants, guarantees that the club is heading in the right direction and CL football. Signing Podolski was the 1st step completed.

Well, this is all hypothetical. I'll believe it when I see it.
As Noble says above, you have him.

I believe Wenger could get him to play well. If it's a mental issue, he'll fix the scoring problem, and ruin every other mental aspect, like the rest of our players.

He burned his bridges with us when he slagged LFC off after leaving(nothing lost in translation),plus we got the best out of him and a good deal when we sold him.
