Not sure if this has been done before but looking back, our season started to fall apart after Lucas, well, fell apart....

Up until then, we were still very much in the running for a top 4 finish and had strung together some decent results.

Is there any news on him? Will he be back for the beginning of next season because if not, I really hope that we find a possible replacement as priority #1 (I know we need a winger and forward too)

    feel free to comment.....

He's a key player for us no doubt.

The problem is that it's such a specialist position. Who are we going to buy that will sit on the bench as long as Lucas is fit.

We should be looking at someone like Coady and getting Lucas to mentor him for the role in the future and to be able to cover him if suspended or injured.

We need to make sure we dont put to much pressure on Lucas while he is still working his way back in. We dont want to aggravate it further.

He is back running in training. So he should be fully fit for the start of the season.

Hate that he had the injury but he had it at the right time really ( in terms of the upcoming season). He has enough time and the whole summer to rest, rehab, get the knee/leg muscles strong again and get comfortable with it before coming back into training.

Our most important player. Without him our midfield literally crumbled in front of our eyes.

Hopefully this injury won't effect him and he'll be back to his best come the beginning of the season.

He actually made Adam look a decent player.

Nope. Lucas is our old lynchpin. He has been our most important player for two seasons IMO. At the end of August I said that if Lucas were to get injured we would be in big trouble. Feel free to search back to find the evidence (I was on Sports Witness at the time though)

So he IS our lynchpin then?? ;-)

  11. At the minute, absolutely <ok>

Hopefully, we can make a couple of signings of the summer to change that. No player should be the lynchpin IMO

Agreed; I'd really like to see a couple of potential pairings in the centre of the park - am a big believer in partnerships; it's no coincidence that Adam looked worse once Lucas was injured. I think Gerrard could, eventually play a deeper role and extend his career alongside Lucas too.....but we need another player of similar ability though as Spearing just doesn't quite make it imo....that said, it is a specialist role and perhaps we need to be more patient?

Maybe for back up it would be worth going for some one older. Patrick Viera did a job there for City towards the end of his career, so could look some where similar. The experience could do our young midfield some good to.
