Plus Rooney would've signed for anyone offering the right wage, hence going back on his transfer request.

    Properly fixed <ok>

And of course the 'death threats' against Rooney weren't taken seriously at all. Whereas the ones against Gerrard were so serious he needed police protection, had to hire bodyguards, and paid a gangster and convicted criminal to take out the guys who were threatening him...

It seems that the OP is under the impression that United players are just picked on cos they play for United...could it possibly be that they actually are to blame, Beckham, Rooney...?

Matth is right. Utd players are picked on when playing for Engurland. Read Gary Nevilles book for the attitude of some of the fans towards Utds English players.

Exactly, he would've backed any player in that England squad that missed a drugs test regardless of what team they played for.

Oh sorry, I didn't realise that Gary Neville had spoken about this...

So, let's get this straight just so I know where we are at with this debate...we have United fans claiming United players are blamed for England's poor performances in tournaments. We have 2 United players famously sent off in knock-out games that England go on to lose, we have Rooney gobbing off at the camera blaming the fans for not supporting the team, even though the team was playing dogshit and Rooney was playing like someone was gonna out him for cheating on his pregnant wife.

And now we have United fans claiming that it is a conspiracy by England fans against United players cos the ex-captain of United, Gary Neville says so...yeah I think that's where we're at!

Gary Neville also said that winning trophies was all-important, if United fail to win one this season does that mean that Chelsea and Liverpool have had better seasons? It must be true, cos Gary Neville said so! ;)

    "Weren't taken seriously at all"

And lets be honest, Man Utd players are rarely blamed. Capello was blamed for world cup 2010, McLaren was blamed for failing to qualify for Euro 2008. Rooney was blamed for stamping out at someone in WC 2006, and rightly so. Euro 2004 was blamed on Rooney's injury, not on Rooney himself or any other player as far as I remember. World cup 2002 was Seaman's fault. That's two managers, one united player and one Arsenal player partly blamed for poor results. Really doesn't sound anti-United to me.

My advice to you would be to read the book.I would much rather the word of an unbiased professional insider than a biased fan going on ABU hearsay.<ok>

    unbiased professional insider HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

...and I think on that note we should end this 'debate'! Well I will anyway, seeing as it has become ridiculous and people are just starting to embarrass themselves now in an attempt to 'win', and the subject is pathetic anyway!

It's not been a United player blamed for England's exit from the last two tournaments...

United players were regularly booed at England games by England fans. I'm not sure about the last 2 years but I know they were before that.

Exactly. It was a bunch of hoodies who didn't even seem sure they were at the right house. Hardly the hardened criminals who forced Gerrard to get police protection and private security for much of his family.

Rose tinted vision there mate. Beckham got a fair portion of blame in 2002 for pulling out a tackle with Ronaldinho before Brazil equalised, despite being only half fit at the time. And more than one commentator blamed Rooney more than Capello for 2010 (Houllier was one of them IIRC). Utd players may not get all the blame, but there are definitely elements of the media who seem far happier when they can apportion at least some of the blame to a high profile Utd name, particularly one with prior problems.
