With no Disco Benny or Rose to play at left back, who do you think will play in that position?

How do you hope Harry will line up the team?

    Just curious.

HD think Kaboul is more likely at RB than Gallas.
Does anyone think Harry will put Bale at LB.
It still will enable him to get forward.

    Brad
    Walker Kaboul King Gallas
    Lennon Parker Modric Bale
    VDV Ade

That's what I think 'Arry will do but I'd like us to put Sandro at right back and move Walker across.

My team had Gallas at left back (not right), where he used to play for Chelsea. Left back is the problem position in the OP and Gallas or Bale are the only options I can see. Why would Kaboul play right back if Walker is available?

I think Bale at LB will be a good idea because he'll keep duff busy when he attacks down the wing, but knowing Harry he'll probably put Lennon there...

i wouldnt be surprised if we see this.

    Brad
    Walker Kaboul Gallas Bale
    Lennon Sandro Parker Modric
    VDV
    Ade

harry doesn't mind putting modric on the left, despite the fact it never works.

I think we could also potentially see

    Brad
    Walker Kaboul Gallas Bale
    VDV Parker/sandro Modric Lennon
    Defoe Ade

Never is a bit strong. Was there before the rise of Bale and we didn't do too bad then. Besides with Bale behind him, he'll have to come inside and it will keep Bale on the left (I hope).

Another option could be a back 3 with wing backs. Only as a one-off against Fulham.

    Kaboul King Gallas

    Walker Sandro Modric Parker Bale

    VDV Ade?

    Interesting, the amount of 'options'.

I'd like to see minimum change to what 'works' in our 4-4-1-1, with Bale still at LM.

But, for some reason I do like the idea of Sandro, Parker, Modric and Bale all of the pitch if Parker can lie deep, almost behind Sandro and Modric, to cover for Bale if he goes forward from a LB position.

Of course it might just not work also. I know that Parker and Sandro tend to get in each others way.

sorry HD, very rarely. To expand on what i meant.. i was referring more to the fact that when modric plays on the left, we lose all width and most of our potential threat. we're a team built for pacey wingers, we have to try and utilise that at all times

True, but having Bale behind him means he doesn't have to provide width. I like Bale at left back, gives him more room to run into and stops him thinking he's a centre forward <grr>

yeah, fair point and that could well work for us as long as bale is going to overlap regularly and As long as we make sure that we've got a man covering the LB spot. Both Bale and Modric lke to get forward and work together as we all know, so it's essential that we've got someone lingering in that area to prevent a breakaway attack. <ok>

    I hope King doesn't play.

I think Harry will do this, and I'm happy enough with it.

    Brad
    Walker Kaboul Gallas Bale
    Parker Sandro
    Modric
    Lennon Ade VDV

Front six 'positions' very approximate, plus I expect Bale to attack more than defend.

    WTF?

    I think that we'll end up using a 4-2-3-1.
Friedel; Walker, Kaboul, King/Gallas, Bale; Parker, Sandro; van der Vaart, Modric, Lennon; Adebayor.

The three centre-backs with Walker and Bale as wing-backs wouldn't shock me, either.
