This happens all the time to United, 1 of our players is the reason why England fail to do well at world cups and european championships, euro 2000 it was Phil Neville, world cup 2006 it was Cristiano Ronaldo, i know he's an opposition player but the press wanted him to leave us and thankfully he didn't, world cup 2010 it was Wayne Rooney, to be fair most of their players were playing poor and there were divisions in the squad.

Rooney probably. It always seems to be him who gets the blame, after Beckham left that is.

I remember the grief he got after he got sent off against Argentina in the world cup, there was a burning effigy of him and i think he recieved death threats as well.

From your list surely only Rooney and Young will get a game. I've never really seen anyone blame England performances on United before though - usually the Lampard/Gerrard argument gets blamed however just to humour your post I'll vote Rooney..

If England can't get past the group stages, which is very much a possibility, then it will be all about Rooney's ban. If they somehow go further than that then it could be anyone. Whoever has the most unrealistic expectations on his shoulders

Well Rooney getting himself pointlessly banned from the first 2 group games surely makes him the obvious choice. That and the fact that he is prone to insanity on the pitch my allow the foreign refs to target him.
