Good Morning Leeds fans, Portsmouth defender Joel Ward could be our second signing in as many weeks, according to the Daily Mail, heading off the likes of Ipswich and Cardiff. The 20-year-old left-back, who can also play left wing, is eager to stay at Elland Road but has yet to agree terms on a proposed new contract. Is he there already??? I'm really pleased that players are chosing US over other Championship clubs unlike the past few seasons where thieving bastards like Ipswich would pip us to the post, long may it continue. Don't know about yopu guys, but I am starting to get a good feeling about our prospects next season. Anyone that mentions the P word will be banned Tom Leeds is being offererd a new contract, and looking to tie himself in for the next 4 years, thoughts? Have the hierachy suddenly twigged on...... We need to wait and see if McCormack and Snodds sign there's... Song of the day anyone???
Morning Elland. First up today. Don't know much about Ward. But I trust Warnock to make the right calls. On Lees, I think it depends on where he will be played, RB or CB? If CB, then great. Sign him up for as long as possible.
& as I was saying, I think Snoddy & Ross may possibly sign short extensions to around January & review the situation then. If it looks on for auto, then maybe a full 4 year extension for each might get signed. Time will tell.
Morning all - I started the day by reading a thread where Bates has said don't expect too many signings before July, it left me with an "oh no" feeling but then the Ward story surfaced again. Here is my thought on it - Those that cost us a transfer fee will come in before Warnock takes a holiday and those we sign who's contracts expire we are waiting for them to actually do that in July? I don't have a problem with that, as long as the free targets are decent and not the remains that nobody else wants. Warnock must have a long list of numbers and contacts in his phone, I remain confident at the moment.
Morning Boggers, With Ross and Snodds, I would hope they would sign to the end of the season (at least) Ward is a young talented left back, good player.....
Ross and Snoddy are contracted until this time next year I believe? So we can hang on to them until December and if it looks like it isn't going to happen sell them then?? I guess the problem is a much reduced sale price and when do you admit defeat in a promotion chase, this season is a typical example, we were all at different stages in our acceptance of defeat. Imagine we are 2 points off a play off spot and we cash in on them, it might destroy our season, or we keep them and lose a play off final and they walk for free. A very tricky one so I am starting to edge with sign a new contract or leave now so we can replace you - no disruptions this season please... - Better make sure it's a good one
Ristac, I think the 1 July thing is due to when the TW opens & when we can officially annouce player signings. The Pearce thing must have been different due to Portsmouth being in Administration. So I'm not that fussed if we don't get too many in officially before 1 July. But by the end of the first week of July I would expect to have learned about a number of new signings. On Snods & Ross, if they're contracted until the end of the forthcoming season, I start to realise why they're in no rush to sign. Clearly they & possibly White want to hedge their bets & see where we are by Christmas. Clearly if we're a way off auto & even top 6 isn't a given, then they'll all be on their way. Mind you' if we're not nailed on for top 6 & a long way off auto, maybe even Warnock will get the order of the Ken.
Oh yes Agreed, if we cash in when only 6 months left, we would anly get 50% of what they are worth. Two posts to go
I thought he was a right back that can play centre back or vise versa? never seen him on the left before.... Morning all
Hi Boggers - With the transfer thing I read that two teams may proceed if BOTH their seasons have concluded, so we could sign someone from Portsmouth but not lets say QPR. In regards to July there is another thread on here where Bates has said fans should not expect too much activity before the end of July http://www.not606.com/showthread.php/143792-Bates-gone and link http://www.leeds.vitalfootball.co.uk/article.asp?a=281999
Morning Bucks http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joel_Ward_(footballer) seems he has played all three RB LB CB and now attacking Midfield
I thought Tom Lees signed a new contract this season, If so I like the fact Warnock is rewarding our best performers with better contracts and longer ones, great for the future
We have got him for £250k so the people in the know say another fine piece of business which will go well with the other good news today that AS a result of a relegated team getting promoted BATES will get 500k to spend from the p-arachute pool
Afternoon All, After last nights results, I've just been looking back on famous quotes and came across this one from brain dead Pete Doherty the idiot Brum fan. "This year we'll win the FA Cup and Championship. Next year the Europa League. Then we can begin thinking about the Champions League." Just wondered if one of you could let me know how Pete's predictions have gone?
Congratulations, great effort, what do you see as your highlights throughout your posting time on Not606?
