Gerrard is irreplaceable. There are very few players who will ever reach the levels he was once at and none of them will have the same drive to play for LFC that he had.
Approaching the league next season. 1.From our pre-season games-we need to do well in pre-season games:some people say it does not matter. 2.Our home games matter a lot..we dropped too many points at home this season. 3.We need to convert a higher percentage of our chances.
In the group stages last season, do we remember one of the opposition teams all stood getting their photos taken in front of the Kop? Different world to the CL. We should go for it though.
We should play our kids/reserves in the group stages and if we go out in the group stages like the spuds did lst season then who gives a toss really it will be good experience for the young lads.
We're in it so we have to try and win it, giving some squad and youth players a game is a good idea, but it needs to be a strong team that can win the match.
I reckon we should go for it, obviously the League should be our priority but it will be a good learning experience for our youngsters. The youth players can handle the early rounds and let the big boys step in depending on the draw. It's will also be good for the older players like Carragher, he still gets playing time and having someone like him on the pitch will help the youngsters. Also I wouldn't mind a cup final trip to Amsterdam.
if we're in it we should definately go for it. I've enjoyed watching the europa league much more than the CL this season. Breathe of fresh air and doesnt have chelsea parking the bus!
It will involve Chelsea next year though. Wonder if the flat back 9 that just about got through in the Nou Camp will be as effective against Shamrock Rovers?
The EL is the way to doom in the league. Playing all over europe on a thursday and then in the league on the weekend is just awful. You SHOULD not try in it and jsut leave you best players out of the EL squad like spuds did. But I doubt you will and it will cost you next year in the league.
WE'll try and qualify early so we can play the kids. But, we'll get a few lacklustre performances and then struggle our way to the semi's. In the semi's we'll get knocked out by a third rate Dutch side with a player who will be bought for 15million + by a premier league side the next transfer window. Always happens!
One of the problems is Channel fooking five! They rape it of any glamour and smother the action with Stan Collymores drivel!
I don't get this obsession in England that Europa is a poor tournament and a waste of time and should be left for the kids. Just watch the Spanish, Italian and other teams when they win and go through the celebrations are brilliant. We have this thing in England where any sort of success, if it isn't in the 2 "main" competitions (League & Chamo League) are deemed as pointless and worthless. I hope we go and win it and maybe push for 4th in the league. Get back to playing 2 games a week and give the younger players (Henderson, Carroll, Shelvey, Kelly) some more experience of Europe so when we do get into the Champ League again they are better prepared for it.
