Well Barmby denies that, and people on here with reliable inside info have denied that. Eventually NB will tell his story and we'll see what everyone thinks then. Until then, it'd be nice if people would stop posting things like this as if it is fact. If anything, the vidence suggest the complete opposite. I think it's worse than that, I think they just came out with his name because it's the one the fans were going on about, the management never wanted him because they never expected he would be in our price range (which realistically he wasn't at £1.9m and £20p/w). If NB had asked I don't believe for a minute they would have paid for him. It's very easy to say who they would have signed now the chance has gone, let's see who they sign this summer. I won't be holding my breath.
Isn't it also just as easy for Nick to say now that he wasn't given or offered any money and that he was turned down when he asked, hence why no players came in? Believe whichever side you want, like I've said else where, I suspect the truth lies somewhere between the 2 parties and I also think hard nosed business experience met red mist passionate football player and that didn't help either party. The Allams didnt get to be as successful as they are by being push overs, and Nick wouldn't have been the player he was without his fiery temperament.
If I make a series of comments to the media suggesting that my bosses are dishonest it will be more than enough to sack me, I don't need to explicitly say it. Barmby has made a number of interviews to the media suggesting the owners haven't backed him or aren't going to despite the owners having publically said they will. If they wish to take that up with him then they can, and the fact he'd previously stated they had backed him and only started questionning it when results turned and people started asking why we hadn't signed anyone will be perfect evidence that he was doing it to deflect attention from himself by undermining them. Whether it's pathetic or not is a different matter, but at the moment there's no lack of reasons it can be legally fine whilst there's none that are available to us suggesting it's not. (largely because AP and NB are being silenced by their lawyers whilst they look into whether there is a case or not)
