I find that some people take my ramblings far too seriously, my teases are totally wasted on the ones without a sense of humour, before you react to what I post, read the message at the bottom!

its interesting how some clubs have really embraced the site, you can tell the number of members each club has. There's a few suprises like Newcastle have tons of people on here. I didnt even realise they had the internet in Newcastle let alone how to use it. Many City a bit of a no show... QPR has twice as many users than say arsenal or chelsea etc etc.... i'm not sure there's a pattern but its probably links in demographically with reagional internet useage, wealth of area etc...

The huge Scottish contingent is because they joined here from old 606 ages ago, they're basically the founding fathers. Then when all of 606 had to split away, everyone chose different forums - I don't know if anyone actually uses ja606 but every club will have split off somewhere different. For whatever reason, most of us Saints fans splintered off to here.

yeah interesting dan... i was on the bbc 606 and i reckon this site deserved to win the battle for the users. i was a bit skeptical to start with purely because i found it a bit blocky / slow to use but i really like it now, its a great way to burn a few hours at work and say for example you're wandering how saints could possibly have lost etc. its quite handy for getting views from supporters that went, particulary to the more obscure away games. i like the added value bits like no. of posts, level 4 etc... it makes it more amusing.

I am at that very safe age for young women.

I am far too old to be a threat (even if I had some cheeky thoughts the old body is too knackered to carry them out) and they usually offer to help me across the road, give up their seat on the bus for me or volunteer to carry my shopping.

All of this means that I do get to chat to some very nice young women though.

This is a good thread - I am also someone who regularly reads threads but doesn't often post, and I agree that most of the time people are polite and make well-constructed arguments. However, I do sympathise with the feeling one gets as a new person that it's a bit cliquey, but I think that's somewhat inevitable. It doesn't mean it is cliquey, nor that people are unfriendly, just that it can seem that way to a new person. Just as with real life, it takes time for people to get to know your personality as a new person, your humour, your interests etc.. I guess one thing that can make this trickier on an online forum is that someone who has been reading the threads for a while might feel that they already know all the main players on the forum, whereas when they eventually sign up they are completely unknown to the other users.

It's important not to take things personally in debate, just as it is important not to make personal comments.

If this is in relation to the Chaplow comments from JakeW then I disagree with some of your points.

I read five or six threads yesterday and three of them had comments from JakeW, pointing out Chaplow's "mediocrities" or general lack-of-ability. These comments weren't on threads dedicated to Chaplow or even threads discussing who would make the step up, these were threads on various topics (I believe one of the comments even came on a thread started to talk about the promotion party).

This in my mind, makes him a WUM.

It is not his opinion (or the fact that the majority of posters disagree with him) that makes him a WUM, it's the fact that he hijacked multiple threads to argue the same point over and over again purely to bait a reaction ... and this opinion comes from someone who actually agrees that post-injury, Chaplow was one of our less effective midfielders (albeit IMHO of course ;) haha)

Would now be the wrong time to point out Chaplow isn't premiership quality? :D

I think at this point it's important to highlight the difference between "debate" and "silly, petulant arguing".

Friendly banter with your local rivals does not make you a WUM.

Since when? If you're winding people up, you're a WUM. The fact that those people support your rival team doesn't give you a free pass to act how you like.

Have we ever actually seen TF play?

This board has always been seen as a friendly one by me and one where you can get away with posting inane comments at times without being castigated over much.

As for Martin, I still hope he can make the grade but feel he has missed the best chance that he had. When Seaborne got injured Aaron became the regular bench warmer. Seaborne has always appeared to me, to be the fourth choice but perhaps he is the back-up right centre back.

    As for being a newbie.

If you had checked the past threads before gushing forth with the pitiful moaning you would have seen that there has been frequent differences of opinion regarding players, prospects and anything concerning our great red and white shirted team. Christ we see our fans fighting each other in the stands during games so try to be less of a child and grow some.
