...but with enough good bits to view next season with guarded optimism. I think the players must have been halfway to the beach when they made the trip to Dagenham, so that wasn't the season finale we were hoping for after last week's spectacular destruction of Accrington. What MM does over the summer, how the resulting team is prepared and who we keep hold of are crucial to a good start to next season's campaign. It's now MM's team and he's gone from someone brought in to dig us out of a hole to the manager of a team that should be pushing for promotion next season - we really need to start well next season. Of course, keeping hold of Muzzy is key and retaining the services of some of our loanees is what he first needs to do and then farm out Zebroski and get a better striker in. Ditto for Craig Stanley in midfield. I think maybe automatic promotion could be beyond us next season - I expect to see Oxford, Plymouth, Chesterfield and Gillingham doing well next season, but hopefully we can be challenging for the playoffs. But, quite frankly, who bloody knows. You've got to be Mystic frigging Meg to predict what the Gas are going to do next! Come on you Rovers!
A fair summary Bb, but the Dagenham result worries me. It's ok to say it was an end of the season performance, but the same could have applied to every team playing. It was the worst loss of the day, and I would have hoped that MM would have motivated the players to perform in front of 600+ travelling fans. I hope we have a bluddy awful pre-season. leading to low expectations and a complete lack of complacency!
Yes 49er, complacency was our enemy at the beginning of this season (and ****le!) and we must avoid it at the beginning of next. I'm not too concerned about the Dagenham result - yes we have to sort out our away form, but I do think that complacency played a part in Saturday's result too. Oh well, that's the end of another ****e season - at least there's plenty of football to keep us interested over the summer - Euros and then Olympics. I've got tickets to one of the Olympic quarter finals at the Millenium Stadium - quite looking forward to it.
Bye Bye Rovers fans you and your mates from Oxford are in L2 for a while yet. Bye Bye STFC RULE FOREVER IN OUR SHADOW
I don't think the gaffer will let complacency set in at any time in the new season he's far too cute for that. Maybe we've all learned a lesson after some decent displays in pre season last time around not to get carried away. The way Buckle had us playing before the season started many of us expected a play off place as a minimum, how wrong were we I can't make my mind up on next season. Either we'll be the Barca of L2, sweeping aside all we meet and storming to the title with relative ease or perhaps we'll quietly creep into the playoffs. Either way I'm bloody certain we'll have a bit more to cheer
one wonders how much higher up the league the gas would have finished with mr magoo in charge from the start
Indeed we wont see you for a while, but not because we will be in league two for much longer. You will return when we are gone and you will remain as your ****. We will bounce back and take the **** out whilst we are at it
Mystic Meg here! The Gash will be lucky to make the Play-Offs next year. Mr Magoo is definitely NOT the man to lead you up, as you'll soon find. I predict a chorus of boo's will be commonplace next season. Likely front runners will be Plymouth, Rotherham, Chesterfield & The Gills. In fact, it's fairly simple compiling a list of ten L2 clubs who are better than you! Fortunately, L2 mediocrity suits you.
Oh look everybody, it's bitter and obsessed Jenny - I wondered when she'd turn up. Enjoy your brief sojourn in L1 Jenny, after all, you've waited 15 years for it
I presume from that unsavoury reply you accept I'm right? Would you like me to name the six other clubs that are better than you?
You presume quite wrongly, a noted habit of you Salopians. We will see, won't we Jenny? You never know until you're about a quarter way into the season, after all who'd thought the Tinpots were going to get promoted this time around?
Jenny - your spot on with your predicition Rovers will be down for a while yet in L2 Promotion candidates next season will be Rotherham-Plymouth - Chesterfield -Wycombe - and the teams in the play off this season that dont make it. so a tough season ahead and dont discount Northampton as Boothroyd will sort Northampton out in the summer.
BlueBaldee - you need to go and shine that bald patch and rub some sense into that head of yours. Your going no where except stagnate in L2. McGee half way through the season will be offered another job and will be off - just wait and see!!!
That's right Bilbo, you keep believing that if it makes you feel better. You and Jenny make a right pair of numpties, don't you!
You won't get anywhere flirting with a Swindonite Jen, they only have sex with their immediate relatives .....unless you are his sister, you do seem quite alike......
