if this colour change was planned all along, why not just take over a club which already plays in red and avoid potentially a massive fan backlash and PR disaster?

if nothing else, we are now in the spotlight and its one hell of a PR stunt!

KJ - Do you actually read anybody's post.

The meeting made it clear Swamp. The owners plan on staying with the club for a long time. They want to rebuild the infrastructure and become successful. They see the future funding of the club to come from TV deals and sponsorship from the Asian market. When they first came to Cardiff, they thought the price was right and the potential was there.

The reason they want read and a dragon has been explained.

I don't want to change, but it will happen, and we will be debt free, and stronger.

its obvious that its not been thought through and that they have no clue about welsh tradition and passion.

I read your post Siam. Doesn't change anything. As you say it will happen and even though I don't like your Club I for one find that very sad. Seems to me that your owners could have had the kudos and possibly a big payday in the future without tearing the heart out of the Club. OK if that's too emotive 'changing its identity'. All because of Asian superstition. Unbelievable.

Cheers KJ, I find it sad as well, but it is not all about Asian superstition. It is about Astro TV rights, sponsorship, outside investment, and longevity. Self-made billionaires do not make decisions solely based on superstition :)

No, a PR stunt is selling lots of season tickets to cover debt when it was promised for players. Luckily he got the Malasians in and went to Plymouth.

on the subject of superstition (which I think is bollox btw), if red is deamed to be lucky in Asia...why haven't QPR or Leicester been changed?...because pumping millions into them hasn't worked. (ok its a rhetorical question)

I'd love to stay blue but sadly, it doesn't look like thats an option...at least at the moment.

That is a wonderful sound-byte but Cardiff City to get to the PL first and get some stability in their before any of that is going to happen. Changing the badge and club colours is not likely to influence that possibility.

At the end of the day, if you Bluebirds are happy if they go ahead with the re-branding, then great - nothing to do with me <laugh> but there is no guarantee that money is going to buy promotion - ask Leicester City

If, let us say for arguments sake, 26+ teams end up with Asian/foreign business owners, who are all hell bent on supplying the same rhetoric then English league football is going to bury itself, along with a number of Asian businessmen. It is simply not sustainable, there have to be losers in this game and some of them are going to end up as seriously big time losers. I hope Cardiff and my club never face that prospect.

Hi Thai. Apparently Astro will sign a 2 year deal to broadcast all Cardiff games if we make the Prem.
Outside sponsorship is promised this season based on "Red Dragons".

As stated our choices are accept the proposals and see what happens, or reject them and go bust. The owners have stated, no change no investment.

    What do we do?

Seriously? reject and go bust? wtf????? Why the hell did anyone let them take charge of your club?

I accept it is not much of a choice but having read that I would be bloody fuming if this was Norwich we were talking about! These are supposed to be savvy business people yet within a few years of running the club they are talking about the potential end of the it. This, to me, beggars belief <yikes>

They are holding the club to ransom! Get the ****ers bought out lads before they destroy not only Cardiff City but the Dragons as well!

It is the part I hate the most. They have put about 15 million in and kept the debt under control. They are saying they are ready to commit to the club long term with 100 million, but they will only do that on their terms. (A part of me understands this)

If they walk away, then we will not be able to pay our bills.

If history within football has taught us anything then it is there is another wealthy benefactor around the corner that will step in at the 11th hour if needed <ok>

Seriously, I do not want to see this happen to any club. It is making my blood boil just thinking about what they have/have not done and what they are proposing to do. It also goes some way to explaining why not much money was spent in January to bolster the squad.

    Just a thought.

How will the proposed investment be dealt with under the Financial Fair Play Rules - particularly any investment in playing staff?

    Blue

FFP - The regulations will be introduced next season on a gradual basis, but sanctions for non-compliance will not be put in place until the 2014-15 season

I imagine the plan is the be in the PL by then.

and if the plan fails? refer back to earlier comment - ask Leicester City.

As you all know I like your club and you guys and I hate being so negative about your club but this just feels oh so wrong. Maybe I am a dinosaur and should move on to watch a game that has not lost or is losing it's identity, any suggestions?
