I know we need to concentrate on our game at the Etihad but the reality is that City are not going to let a title slip out of their hands on their home turf. As much as i want to believe, and stranger things have happened, it's looking more likely that we're going to need Stoke to do us a favour. However, i didn't like what i read on the BBC website this morning: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/17993637 That's a bit of what we need! 'We really have to stand up as men and be counted'. I can really see Bolton fighting all the way on Sunday - and that worries me....
Of course they will fight, do you expect to read they won't bother to turn up, we will lose narrowly at City, and they will draw at Stoke.
Bookies on Sky reckon we are six timers more likely to stay up than they are. Would have preferred certainty but that will have to do for the moment. Also, as Hughes says, forget about anyone else and get on with our job in hand.
They've had two opportunities at home to make themselves safe and failed both times. They were shyte against Spurs and West Brom and are 18th because that's all they deserve. Stoke to win on Sunday...
This is the same tosh stuff that our players have being reeling off for weeks. Action's speak louder than words, and Reo-Coker fancies himself as a bit of a "thinking-man's" footballer.
The only worrying thing is that Stoke have lost all 3 times they've played on the last day of the season and offered little resistance but to be fair 2 of those were away to United and Arsenal. I just don't think Bolton are good enough, they did well to get a few draws but iMO lack the quality to be in this division.
Bolton's spirit for a game like this is guaranteed, it is whether or not Stoke give it 100% or not that worries me. I trust that they will want to avenge their 5-0 defeat earlier and put in a max effort last day of the season.
Nobody knows what will happen. We don't know which QPR team will turn up in Manchester ... the one that came back against Liverpool or the one that rolled over and died against Chelsea. Same goes for Bolton. Add to that a bit of luck (cracking shots that hit the woodwork or goals that go in of a prone defenders bum, blind refs and linesmen, sending offs, etc) and anything can happen.
This is the same Nigel Reo Coker who couldn't get a game a Villa more than partly because he didn't try hard enough for o'Neill? Inspirational.
No point second guessing the outcome on Sunday. If stoke play to the best of their ability, they won't lose....but what actually happens we'll have to wait and see. It's not in our hands unfortunately because man city will beat us.
I'm getting the feeling that it's all hot air in an attempt to fire up the team - as if the team wouldn't be fired up. Think it re-inforces the view that we need to focus on what we can do and ignore the Bolton-Stoke game as it's out of our hands anyway. Can't wait to get Sunday out the way and then i can carry on with my life again! Although what will we then be able to talk about? Sad isn't it.
It makes you wonder who is doing the maths. Statistically we are almost certain to lose at the Etihad whereas Bolton have a reasonable chance of an away win based on the form book. I'm almost tempted to put some money on Bolton so I can at least drown my sorrows if it doesn't go well for us. The real variable here is Stoke. Their performances are so erratic that you truly never know.
What were they mate? And why do you hate Del Piero - political connections? Always thought Juve were a workers club......
Boltons fighting spirit have been ok for a while now. Its the way their defence&midfield make stupid mistakes that has drove them to where they are now. Much like us.
Exactly this - it's the standard post defeat blurb by a team that's lost. No one's ever going to say "We're going to run around in chaos for the first half and then, when we find ourselves 4-0 down, stroll around disinterestedly like a hippy in a meadow."
