Ainsworth offered 1 year player/coach contract

    Dunne offered 1 year extension

Tunnicliffe, McNamee, Strevens, Arnold, Mooney, Halls all released

    Interesting......

Not many suprises so far. Itll be interesting to see if Ainsworth gets another contract. He's a quality player but he's getting on and his input was limited this season. Im guessing he's also one of our higher earners and him going may make way for more players to come in. Thoughts??

Just updated with the latest news, Ainsworth offered a 1 year player/coach contract. A good move I think.

No real surprises, however I would have kept Strevens. We will need his work rate when Beavon goes.

agree magic. Strevens looked ok last time we were in LG2. It would be great to keep Ainsworth on in player/coach capacity. He's been a quality player for us but, at his age, we cant rely on him to play every week. Maybe he'll prove me wrong!!

    Tunnicliffe now gone.

Hopefully in releasing the 2 goalkeepers it means that Bull has agreed he will stay on next season.

Rocky, I'm sure Grant signed on a 2 year deal last summer.

Can't say I disagree with any of waddocks decisions on the contracts. Strevens offers work rate but little else. 11 league goals and only 4 league assists in 2 years is simply not good enough.

Grant may be a lot better in the lower division .he has all the skills but lacks the effort and dedication

the only one which surprised me was strevens release - for me he was borderline but waddock seems to be a big fan of his. pity bloomfield wasent offered a longer contract, he surely deserves it?

Ainsworth for player coach great news. What's the difference between manager and coach (eg bearing in mind Jose Mourinho is widely quoted as coach/head coach). What's the difference between player coach and player manager?

Is it necessary to have a player coach/manager and a manager?

List of players in contract for next season from the club website :- Bull, Foster, Winfield, Johnson, McCoy, Basey, Lewis, Grant, Beavon, McClure, Rendell and Dunne.

    A few observations :-
    - Definitely gap in mid-field with only Bloomfield (assuming he accepts) and Lewis currently in contract.
    - Looks like we have a near full complement of defenders - which is not good news given our showing this season, unless some can be shipped out.
    - Other than Bull, Beavon, Lewis, Grant, Dunne and McClure - would we keep any of the others if they were out of contract ?

not sure how many would be kept. i think waddock will be looking for another winger or 2, donally and maybe another cm, doherty, another striker (assuming we cant keep beavon)

incidently, what are others thoughts on rendell? he looked a good striker at league 2 level but he needs a real worker around him, thats if he even wants to stay!

I warmly welcome seeing Rendell in the first team again. In our promotion season he was imo our best striker, before Beavon could score consistently and both Strevens and Pittman were disappointing. For me, he has shown more than McClure, who needs to start putting in good performances this season to justify getting a senior contract with Wycombe. I'm not particularly disappointed with any of the players released, none of them really deserved a new contract.

i think Mcclure( is anyone calling him Doug yet?) needs more starts and perhaps in Div 2 thats whats going to happen but you are right its up to him now hes got to step up from being a prospect to a proven front man.
