Well I read it 3 times and could still make no sense from it. People on here most certainly do not all agree with each other!

Just the other day I was disagreeing with JakeW! I could just hear the thud of a rattle hitting the floor.

On the Aaron Martin point: It's not that Adkins does not think he is good enough to play, it's that Adkins thinks Hooiveld and Fonte are better.

I'm a newbie and I love the forum..... Like it I mean.
The debates and disagreement are key to the forum, if everyone agreed with each other what would be the point of a debate.

    Newbie sucking up - check

If you don't like intelligent debate and are so full of your own opinions that you won't listen to others then I would say this board is not for you.

On the other hand if you say what a great player Guly is and that De Ridder is a headless chicken then I would agree with you whole heartedly and no one will tell me otherwise.

Being serious this board is quite friendly and a lot of work has gone in to trying to ensure that it doesn't go the way of many forums with WUMs, foul mouthed idiots and a great deal of personal abuse.

If you want to get on just imagine you are in the pub with your mates and you want to convince them why what you believe is correct and you should be alright.

Just remember though we have Lee Bernard aka Beddytare as our chief bouncer.

Stick around until you begin to feel at home, is my advice. And don't take yourself or others so seriously.

Forums naturally include a cross section of people and like life it has all types the reasoned ,the wums ,the agreeable the comedians, the sensible and the contrary but it maybe does allow the less brave to be more fothright as they are not face to face with someone who disagrees with them. But i say give your opinion if people like it fine if not fine just dont be to sensitive about it

Exactly DTLW. Who can say how good or bad Martin can become. Players develop at different speeds, look at Sunderlands McCLean who was playing Irish soccer only two years ago.

The only thing i dislike about this forum, is some people think they are bigger than the rest. Some with several posts do not merit any different recognition to someone with a handful!

This individuals are the same that offend others when someone doesnt spot that a specific topic has been previously mentioned, simply because they dont live on the site and scroll through pages and pages

Other than that and a few idiots, its pretty decent

"everyone on here agrees with each other."

Not my experience. The threads which tend to get most traffic are those which have the most polarised views. If I posted a thread "hasn't Lambert done well" (don't even think about it, Lamballana..;)) then it would very quickly disappear onto page 2, possibly after a few thanks for a privileged glimpse of the bleeding obvious.
Since the Coventry match, we have had a happy board, so your comments are well timed, but I think the workplace analogy is a good one. In addition, some will make a statement without explaining it. "Player X is crap" as a post is unlikely to go well unless you are talking about Forecast perhaps.<laugh>

I think a lot depends on the way that you do it. In my first post I criticised elements of Fox's play knowing that he is generally a popular figure on this board. However, I argued my case rationally and supported it with some facts. I got some converts but most people probably disagreed with me. However, at no point was I labelled a WUM.

I don't know to which post you are referring but if you just come on and say, "Martin isn't good enough" without any explanation then I can understand the reaction.

You are a WUM Sharpshooter11. You've been on our board and others being a very naughty boy.

The very definition of a WUM you are, although this thread is one of your better efforts, I have to say.

I honestly think Aaron Martin will develop & become a key player for us in the future. England captain in the making, but with none of the drugs, sex or violence. (might have taken it a tad far, hey)
Good post SharpShooter, I'm always in agreement. <ok>

I think you are all WUMs, and I am the only person on this Board who knows what he is talking about. Please feel free to disagree with this, but if you do it will confirm my view that you are a WUM.

I think the only shared opinion on this board is that we don't like WUMs nor do we like people who are just plain beastly (espeially to nice chaps like PompeyMeowth and Devonfrattoniser and other decent Pompey posters) and we dont like people who can't be assed to explain their opinions.

That is how this board has evolved and most people seem comfortable with that.

We are also very rarely offensive to anyone although at this moment I am resisting that temptation but I may not be able to do so for very long.

Above is a fair comment......As mods we are constantly on the look out for people that try and bully other people on this board and deal with it as appropriate.
It has been made very clear that all opinions are welcome on this board. However having an opinion brings with it certain responsibilities. That responsibility is about making your point without getting personal or insulting, to agree to disagree if necessary.
I have to say Sharpshooter that I find your opening statement a bit bewildering.
Over the years I have been on many Forums of this nature and the one thing they all have in common is the choice of whether you stay and read, agree or disagree, post or not post. If you have a point to make then make it just as you have today, but do not be surprised when you are disagreed with.
Like all Forums you are going to get a hell of a lot people agree, probably for different reasons maybe. Just as you will get people disagreeing. When newbies come on quite a lot of us actually welcome them. We as mods often actually offer our support. However if they immediately try and tear up the system and turn it into a GC type of Forum you are bound to get a lot of reaction especially from us. We in the main have a bloody good crowd on the Saints Forum we have our outspoken ones as well as our comedians. We have our rumour spreaders and our wishful thinkers. We have some fans that have facts at their fingertips. Which ever way you look at our Forum is very diverse, the one thing we don't have and that is total agreement except regarding Wums maybe!!
