Would suggest those two idiots Ashley and Llambarse should look at getting Joey Barton to sign a new contract. The guy has been class for us this season and he should be offered a new contract asap. He has been great and has a fantastic attitude we need him to stay in toon it is down to players like him and Colo and Tiote that we look like staying up. Ashley is ******* useless as is Pardew but we have a fantastic core of players no Owens, Viducka and Martins in this team,:emoticon-0100-smile

Am I the only one who thinks he didn't play that well today. Though has had a very good season and deserves a new contract hopefully as soon as possible.

  3. Barton wants a 5 year contract but Ashley only wants to give him a 2 year extension.

I love Barton and he's been fantastic, but i have to stand on the side of Ashley here, Barton is awesome, but there's no garuntee that he'll be playing well when he's 32/33.

If he's still playing well in 2 years time, he'll get a new contract in a snap, no arguement.

If he gets the 5 years contract i'll be happy because he's staying, but i think a 2 year extension would be a better idea.

If we give him a 5 year contract, we'll be able to get a transfer fee at the end of the year.

There's nothing wrong with Pardew. Barton needs a new contract though, apparently he was going to be captain today because Nolan was expected to be out through injury. Hopefully he'll get the armband for the Villa and Man U games now that Nolan's suspended.

AG, Pardew said it was because of illness'' that Nolan might have missed out. I agree with Barton getting a contract extension, not as long as 5 years though, maybe 3 with the option of extending it.

I agree that Joey Barton deserves his new contract and that he has been different class in midfield this season - I just worry that Pardew has some strange ideas about who he wants as the creative midfield force going into next season. I think Guthrie is on his way out, Smith, although not creative, is also on the way to the exit. I have heard rumours that Nigel Reo-Coker will replace Smith and that Stephen Ireland will get taken on as our own player this summer.

Well fair enough 3-4 year contract he is a good player who has done a good job for us this year. Reo-Coker no thanks. Don't know whats going on with Ireland really disappointing as I think he could be useful but how can we judge certainly wouldn't be paying villa more than 2-3 million

The thing is, he has to take a pay cut. Why agree to that on a short term deal?

Perch did OK for Perch but still looks way out of his depth in the PL.

Yeah, in various games we've seen that he's not PL standard. Hopefully Kadar steps up to the plate if Perch gets sold, maybe Tarver as well.. we'll see.
