Great win and I thought Valencia and Fabio and Berbatov and Rooney were terrific. But why an earth DID Rooney have to swear. It was a disgrace and a disgusting thing to do. Is this the player we want to be the face of Man Utd?

Rooney has committed a disgusting minor offence known as swearing. LuisNani17 will be happy to see this video that I have posted.

Let's put his performance to a side. I'm assuming many youngsters were watching this game, do you think that they should of witnessed this disgraceful behaviour?

Threads merged. Let's keep the debate about Rooney's swearing to the one thread to keep the debate together.

And yes, it probably doesn't look great, but hardly a capital offence. Kids are more likely to be influenced by the lack of respect shown to refs and officials (including paramedics) and players' off pitch activities that by them swearing when celebrating a goal.

Swarbs, aren't you supposed to retrieve my permission before you merge anything?

I thought we had the rights to create as many threads as we want to?

Nope - I can merge threads if necessary to keep the debate focused and flowing. I do the same thing with random transfer threads - they get merged into the overall transfer rumours sticky. Given LuisNani had already made a thread about Rooney's swearing, there seemed no point having two of them.

It's the heat of the moment and he comes from a place where this sort of stuff happens in every day life, a camera shouldn't go up to him if it wasn't expecting **** to come through.

its rooneys mentality and his poor upbringing and his lack of education which gives him that repulsive nature

I bet the cameraman was chuffed when he caught the swearing - good story for the media to spin out a bit and Sky can probably make a few bob from selling the still image to a few tabloids.

Mainly his mentality - it's always been in his nature. Scholesy was also brought up on a council estate and went to a comprehensive but doesn't have the same mentality and tendency to swear.

doubt its always been in his nature seeing as theres no such thing. It has everything to do with his upbringing. Awesome player though ;)

Last few games rooney has been coming into some form, surely perfect timing? And Rooney swore, is anyone really suprised or upset by this? Luisnani from what i have read it appears your more of a Nani fan than a united fan whats that about?

Actually, MRI scans have shown that different people's brains respond to swearing in different ways, even for people with very similar upbringing like twins. So some element of someone's tendency to swear is just in their nature - if Rooney's parents had won the lottery, hired all the etiquette coaches they could, and bribed the staff to let him into Eton and Cambridge he'd probably still swear like a trooper. But probably wouldn't be half as good at football!
