    God save our gracious Queen!
    Long live our noble Queen!
    God save the Queen!
    Send her victorious,
    Happy and glorious,
    Long to reign over us,
    God save the Queen.

    Thy choicest gifts in store
On her be pleased to pour,
    Long may she reign.
    May she defend our laws,
    And give us ever cause,
To sing with heart and voice,
    God save the Queen.

All of this. A Republican Britain, with a democratically elected head of state (not one determined by who got ****ed in one family) would be equally patriotic and equally proud. Is an accident of birth anyway to have a Head of State appointed in the 21st Century? Are the Germans any less patriotic for being a republic? Are the French? Are the Americans less patriotic than us? Really? I think not. I love my country and I am a proud Englishman, so its completely insulting to suggest that because I believe in democracy and the right of people to determine their own fate as a Republican, that somehow I am not patriotic. The family Windsor don't make Britain great. The people do.

Its a complete and utter con to perpetuate the myth that the Royal family unites us all somehow and is a comfortable 'neutral' state owned head for us to rally round. There are so many hangers on like the useless piece of dog ****e that is Edward, or Andrew for that matter, that I could spit blood when I see the bastards swanning around like they own the whole place.

If the Queen was nominated and then voted for by the people in a referendum, I would accept her as my Head of State. As things stand though I despise what she stands for in privilege for the few and the cultivation of 'Stepford' Royal supporters trotted out to wave flags and the like when she visits. Its sickening to see and IMO holds this nation back in the modern world and does not progress it at all.

Tom all you people who want a president just think how much more it will cost you with an election every 4 years. I would not like to the queen's job at all. How many presidents have visited so many countries (116 in all)?

Monarchy is outdated, constituional or not. There is no justifyable reason to have a person as Head of State (and church, but thats another thing) who isin that position purely through an accident of birth.

Not only is it morally reprehnsible to have a single family in such a position for no good reason, it is also anti-democratic. Lets have an elected head of state, no state sponsored church, an elected upper house and move into the 21st century.

On a side note, Legoland earns money for the UK per anum than the royal family does.
