Totally agree with this, its personally why i have left a couple of my roles, however you could say how do they know your the best employee til you work there? I suppose with me being only 20 i will always think that as i am not experienced but i rate what i have more than experience. Btw anyone who wants to apply for this but doesn't know Sage i know a very good online course that will teach you everything you need for a small fee. (P.S They don't give me to much for advertising this!) Btw OLM didn't mean that as a dig at you, but all the other rubbish employers out there!
I would apply but I'm overqualified and under experienced if that's possible. Plus working for OLM would jeopardise my Not606 career which is just way too important to me...
Anyone who takes a job with me and turns out to be the best employee would soon be paid more than the others, regardless of experience. The only reason there is a requirement for experience, is because in the short term I've no time to train people up, they need to know what they're doing from day one.
Surely if some 22 year old came in and accepted £18k, worked his arse off and became your best employee you wouldn't go "here son, have an extra £7k" though? Like I said, it wasn't an individual pop at you or anything, it's just that I've been unable to find full-time work in 11 months since leaving college because every job, no matter how simple, requires a heap of experience. I saw an ad for driving a small van around doing home deliveries for Iceland. (not the country) It required four years of work experience. To drive a ****ing van. Not that it matters too much now, I'm 95% nailed on for Uni in September.
They can get enough applicants by asking for 4 years experience and they prefer people with more experience. There should be apprenticeships but any employer who would take apprenticeships is put off by the quality of school leavers.
Someone that's spent time building up their job specific and life experience and employment attendance history could possibly give a better answer on why they should be paid more than some youngster with a paper qualification, especially as so many qualifications are general and low level.
When I started work I was paid £3 10s a week which is equivalent to £41 pounds a week now. Lots of people say they would rather be on benefits than get that now.
In all fairness I don't really blame the employers particularly, it's just frustrating as hell that there's barely any point in giving anyone my CV when they're clearly going to throw it straight in the bin after a glance.
Get an apprentice on £2.60 an hour , I think they can be aged up to 24 Then pay yourself a big bonus with the money you saved It's not exploitation it's capitalism
£2.60 is the apprentice rate, for apprentices under 19 or 19 or over and in the first year of their apprenticeship
I got the equivalent of £1 an hour at todays rates. If people would work for that they would find that they would easily get a job and in a few years time they would be a lot better off.
OLM just headhunt Darren Robinson, if succesfull you wont need the other two post filling. Judging by his website I cant understand why he was overlooked for the England job in favour Roy. I,ve heard he can kickstart jumbo jets off...
