Dragon- I am arnt i!! and usually right as well ...<laugh>

Whatever happens with Siggy i think its clear to see that the club will do its best for Brenden, spending £7m quid shouldn't frighten us if we want to build on what we have.

The points about Siggy being found out are IMO a bit daft, like everyone else he has had a few quiet games, you could blame that on a hundred things like other players in our team not having enough movement off the ball to open up the spaces for him to shoot etc,etc truth is he is a class player ,proved it at reading ,hoffinheim and Swansea city. You what they say about form and class ??

Besides all this the one thing we have been crying out for is a deadball specialist! doesnt matter if your worked out by the opposition if you can bend in free kicks on a regular basis! its something we MUST have at this level(along with somebody that can actually head the ball when we attack!) we have a chance to sign him so we should do all we can.

the next phase of the project will include players that will maybe input goals from other areas , like a set piece header of the ball and a striker that can move faster than DG and also work with him .

These players will probably have to be a loan or a lucky dip from lower league or afar, but if we have a chance to sign quality we must sign it!!

People are looking at siggy as the final pice of the jigsaw but this guy could be the start of something new, we need to evolve as we progress, getting players to fit our style is difficult spending money on 1 big signing now and again is a minimum requirment to keep pace with prem football, i dont like that fact but i beleive it to be true. The moment we stand still at this level is the moment the club moves back to the ccc.

I have no problem with this, but dont think for one minute that we can keep anything like the same team after the players have had 2yrs of prem football and big money, it will mean the break up of the team and time to rebuild . If we manage things correctly spending big money one the odd special player will progress us and not hurt us financially.

This is exactly where the board seem to have struck a balance, if they say its too much(£7m ) then thats good enough for me, i get the feeling it wont be too much for this player though <ok>

Come on now Norway, although i am a huge fan of Siggy there is no way i would give Brendan £7 quid as you advise at the start of your post above, a fiver yes no problem with that.

Agree Norway, little by little step up the quality, without going into debt! Lets hope the big boys don't get serious on Siggy, would love us to get lucky with another striker, in the mold of Borini, to help Danny boy up front! That's my one big wish............. <cheers>

Spending 7 million on one player & we may evolve ourselves back to the Championship with a pretty hefty wage problem in tow & bring the slow build to a quick halt . Buck will find another loan if need be , 5 million firm for anyone !!

agree cracker. it was only last season where these same fans said we should only spend £3 million for the whole lot before we bought danny..<laugh> now they want to spend double that on one player without looking at the big picture if we do get relegated next season..<ok> £5 mill max or look elsewhere.....

I know its a gamble but imo an offer should be made with a time limit of a couple of weeks to accept as in most companies in the real world, or we move on to get others in leaving more valuable time to play with getting the right guy for the job. And not held to randsom for them to see whats available to them right up to the end of the summer as per doris last season !

The cost of players, wages and agents etc are a big part of the game but financial stability and an academy are just as important long term even with the parachute payment safety net we are`nt rich enough yet to blow a large percentage of income on one or two players fees and wages etc..?

What planet are you on mate? Do you know anything about football? Neil Warnock was the QPR manager last season. Mark Hughes was the the QPR manager this season. So Warnock phoned up Sparky and told him how we play? Nonsense.

And Talksport? Are you real? Adrian Durham embarrasses himself on a daily basis on that station. If you're relying on them for your opinions then you truly are a tortured soul.

Lacking all over the place? What? We bought a striker for 3.5 million that's banged in his fair share. We have goals from midfield and a back 4 that (OK, with one loan player) maintained an excellent home record.

Stop inventing things to moan about and concentrate on facts.

Last season, we were in the Championship Dai. This and next season, we are in the Premier League. We need a few players, so we need to spend. What would you do? Not spend anyting, incase we get relegated? You can't live life on a "what if". We have the money, now is the time to invest.

P.s. Ctrl freak, your wasting your time mate, lol.

It's gone very quiet on the Sigurdsson front.

The Chairman went to Germany intent on thrashing out a deal with Hoffenheim.

    No word as yet.

So, do we assume he is still in that wonderful country, washing down his apple strudel,(oh how I love apple strudel),with a nice chilled glass of Reisling,(oh how I love Reisling)?

    Or did I miss something?

Just been doing a bit of homework on Hoffenheim. It's little more than a village (pop 3000 in 2006) situated in a beautiful part of Germany near Heidelberg and Stuttgart.

Owner is German software entrepreneur Dietmar Hopp - a very rich man by all accounts. He built a brand new 30,000 seater stadium down the road in Sinsheim which only has a population of 36,000!

They were in the German 5th division not so long ago and are now in Bundesliga 1st division. It sounds like the German equivalent of Wigan.

As long as any contract negotiations we do now (and hopefully those negotiated over the last couple of seasons) have relegation clauses then we should be ok.

    Good facts Aswan.
