that was a charity pen for downing as he hasn't got a goal, or bottle either He should have replaced the ball again after the keeper touched it and taken his steps back, I think turnbull did him there
Wow.... shows what we can do when the pressure is off. Probably the best 45 minutes I've seen this year albeit against a slightly weaker Chelsea team. I can't even fault Downing for his penalty miss. I think he just needs to look back and have a laugh and realise he isn't destined to score in the league for us this year. Suarez & Carroll have absoloutely torn the defence apart and Maxi & Henderson's runs and movement have been outstanding. Shelvey has been brilliant as well, composed on the ball and just sitting there dictating the play. Lets hope we continue in the second half and get a couple more and really sign off from Anfield on a big high.

Well done to the lads I've pretty much had enough of Downing though, Carroll is showing what quality he does have and Henderson is giving us glimpses whilst Downing isn't showing anything. Bring on Sterling or a midfielder and change it to a 4-3-3

The annoying thing is, Ivanovic & Essien won't get further punishment for their awful assualts as the ref saw both and booked both! Someone needs to change this ridiculous rule. Unless the ref really doesn't think either of those are red card offences in which case he needs to go away and do some more training...
do you think henderson feels a bit restricted when playing with stevie gerrard? him and shelvy have run the midfield so far
