Evening all - and a pleasant one at that in bandit country. Right it's time for a rant or 2.....finally the BBC have reported on the court case in Liverpool of the disgusting sexual abuse of children in Rochdale - they have continually ignored this court case on TV, Radio and on the WEB. They reported on the case when it opened, but made no mention of the names of the men involved - I can only assume that they did not want to draw attention to their ethnicity. This is the second such case and the BBC followed the same pattern with that. When these disgusting monsters are sentenced, I hope the judge rules that they should be deported after they have completed their sentence as they are not British subjects - but no doubt some Liberal lawyer will plead that this breeches their human rights and spend years and millions of tax payers money appealing against it. Next - just how low can Boxing get? So 2 fighters who have had their licences withdrawn in Britain, can get a licence in Luxembourg that allows them to fight in Britain...and the BBC gives the whole subject 20 mins of air-time and allows the apologists come on and criticise the British Board. If the BBC had any conscious, it would refuse to give this circus any air time and in fact stop promoting this whole crooked business. Rant over...
Have a and calm down w_y. Can I just have a little moan about the Beeb while on the subject? They had to save money, fair enough, our forum must have cost a small bit of loose change each year, but now when there is a sports item on the news we have to cross to the BBC Sports Centre. A person is sat in a huge space in a colour cordinated studio looking lost. Maybe they are sat in a cupboard with computer generated surroundings, but I don't think so. How much has this set up cost?
Why give boxing in any form a place on TV or radio sport? An activity in which the main aim is to physically hurt your opponent shouldn't be classified as a sport in my view.
Then we should not allow horse racing either. It is cruel on the horses and often knocks 5+ years off their life span.
I don't classify horse racing as a sport anyway, it would die a natural death if it weren't for the associated gambling - so, yes, ban it. As for the child sex abuse case - time to bring back the death penalty IMO
Not surprisingly, my colleague who supports West Ham was in a good mood today to the point of actually bringing a shirt in. Unfortunately for him, it was from the season where they were sponsored by XL.com so I asked him why there wasn't any tape on it.
Not the old "bring back the death penalty" BB, please. A much more devastating punishment would be life in prison where life meant life and it was spent in solitary confinement in a small cell just 8ft square. With a CC camera mounted high on the cell wall to allow us to watch these monsters go slowly mad. Guess I was watching Papillon the old night....sorry.
I think there is a sort of poetic irony that the Dereck Chisora/ David Haye fight is being fought at Upton park. Wladimir Klitschko said it would be a freak show, and i agree. The two egos have been let loose and it will be a brawl, not a boxing match.
For those who think we have it bad with Bassini, you may like to read this. We may be suspicious, but we are in party land by comparison. http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/philmcnulty/2012/05/blackburn_face_uncertain_futur.html
Just to add to your understanding of what has been going on at Blackburn, there is a leaked letter that is worth a read. http://boards.footymad.net/forum.php?tno=73&fid=51&sty=2&act=1&mid=2114803943
BB I`m with you ,wastes too much taxpayers money to life imprison someone ,so as long as there is no reasonable doubt of guilt then kill them!
Hi one and all. Sorry i have not been about much, but with assignment deadline coming up on Thursday it is the usual mad rush to complete and finalise all assignments. Today i have done 1000 words of an Agency and Sale of Goods assignment and read at least 150 pages of notes. Tomorrow will be the same. I hate this time of year!!! But i am done for tonight, and will be going to bed so as to be up in time to collect a book in the morning which enables me to complete the other half of the assignment.
evening all...just finished watching the series 'Homeland'. Has anyone seen it? Bloody brilliant! And it's based on an Israeli series which will start being broadcast on thursday, i can't wait. Truly amazing performances in the US version though, not least from Damien Lewis who is rather awesome in many ways
Morning all, fair throwing it down with rain at the moment, but it is due to ease off a bit later on. Thanks for my coffeee ak, it will be welcomed. I have been reading a bit from the Beeb's web site, and did wonder if such things take place in the Championship. You only have to try the prediction league to see what I was thinking. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-18000848
Morning all from a very damp West West London - it lashed it down all night in bandit country and all the way round the M25! I see Barnby has got the elbow - that is one team I have never liked since our encounter with them in the play-off's. Regarding the Rochdale rapists and child abusers - I would lock them up in solitary for a very long time and then take them straight to the airport and deport them back from whence they came. No appeals, no tribunals, no lawyers - straight back on the first plane. Unfortunately it will never happen - too many lawyers will be rubbing their grubby mits together at the thought oif all of that legal-aid. H - I only have just caught Homeland and it is very good. I stopped watching it in the hope of catching repeats...
Well, if I can't get capital punishment brought back, I'll half agree with you. Deport them (and their families) immediately, make sure they are named and shamed in Pakistan - and then stop all financial aid to Pakistan. Maybe their own will then exact appropriate retribution. A win:win situation for us - we wouldn't have the expense of looking after them for years and we would save about £400M which could be better used over here - it is our money after all. Maybe we could smuggle Abu Qatada out in their luggage too - can't see that ECHR will rule on 'our' side today & that may be the only way to get rid of the ratbag.
Morning all. Its a sad day here today and the weather reflects it. We are all traveling down to St Albans this evening to visit Grandad in the Chaple of Rest. It was hard to see Grandma (not related to Grandad) but as i did not get to see Grandad as i wanted to before he died i feel i have to. On the other hand, i have got 1/3 of my final assignment completed and can finish most of it today ready to hand in tomorrow.
Góðan daginn til allra. Cappuccino, coffee, tea donuts and fruit are on the bar. I am in a hurry today. I was called to do some different work yesterday which is not in our budget but has to be done so the managers can fight about doing this or not. The doing team will always win but they do not think of the money spent to make it work and how many might be wanted.
I think I have been transported back in time Apart from the fact that I think some of the above comments come very close to racism I thought the dreary old debate about the death penalty was itself dead - and that is for murder not a lesser crime - and before you jump in rape is my opinion is a lesser crime. Rape victims can be helped and supported murder victims cannot - and there is no safe way of ruling for the death penalty only where there is no reasonable doubt - it is ALWAYS the case there is supposed to be no reasonable doubt else you are not allowed to convict. Tell the Birmingham 6 that they should have been murdered by the state.
I wouldn't describe it as a dreary old debate, Leo - more frustrating than anything. Your point of view is your point of view, and mine is mine - the main difference is that you possibly share yours with the majority. I say possibly because we don't know - our lords and masters apparently don't believe that we should be allowed a say in the matter and see themselves as the only ones capable of making a decision regarding capital punishment. Strange then that these self-same lords and masters take it upon themselves to decide that it is perfectly acceptable to train our young people to kill, perfectly acceptable to decide to send them to countries where we have no right to be, perfectly acceptable to watch as they are killed - then glorify them when their bodies are returned. They too have effectively been murdered by the state - and without so much as a whimper.
