Found this on the Cardiff Clity forum:

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/17996534

What would you allow a wealthy owner to do with Leeds United FC, if it meant they paid out millions and millions of cash and promised glory?

Red home strip, red seats at Elland Road (new name AsiaNet.com Laxative Sports Arena) etc.

    Yes, just read this! <laugh>

Apparently they want to paint all the seats red in the stadium and rebrand them as the 'Cardiff Dragons' so they are more marketable in Asia. <doh>

Franchise FC No. 2, in other words. God help football.

I'd be furious if anyone attempted this at Leeds. Don Revie changed our shirt colour, fair enough, but what they're looking to do to Cardiff is a full-scale transformation of their tradition, culture and image. Those three things should be held as an inalienable right of fans to keep for their own, hence why it's obvious AFC Wimbledon are the true successors to Wimbledon FC, and so on.

Even Bates wouldn't have the brass neck to try pull something like this off in Leeds. It's only because Cardiff have gone so soft recently since their move to their lego stadium that they'll accept half of the proposals.

Kicked out the Cardiff Blues rugby team from the stadium as well, I guess they don't want the pitch destroyed next season.

I think that was more to do with the Blues fans not liking their plasticky dish of a stadium and wanting to return to their traditional ground, unlike the City fans.

Revie changed our strip when we were a nothing club with no real history so the fans didn't really care, so I don't see why the Cardiff fans would be too bothered. <whistle>

Also, in all seriousness, when we changed to all white home strips we still kept the original club colours of blue and gold/yellow in addition.

Before Cap'n P1ssbeard bought us, I remember there being an article about some Saudi Sheikh or whatever, wanting to buy us. Apparently, he'd bought into clubs in various sports worldwide and had a stable of racehorses. The common denominator was he made all clubs/horses wear green and if successful in his bid, he'd have done the same with us.

I dunno how I'd react to someone changing our colours. Although we only started wearing white in the 60's,the kit and the reason behind it are important parts of our identity.

I've been reading the original thread on a Cardiff forum and I'm shocked at how many seem to not care, or even like the idea. I would be fuming. The only home kit change I would allow is blue and gold or blue and white stripes for the 100th anniversary.

Im not sure where the problem is. We've worn numerous color schemes away from home in recent years. We seem to play worse at home wearing our tradition white. I'm not bothered once we return to the premiership before I pop me clogs

Numerous? We've had two away shirts that aren't blue and yellow since the 60's. Our club colours are an important part of our identity as a club. The next step would be changing the name and moving to a different city US style.

It's not just about the kit colour though, is it?

Even a few Cardiff fans appear not to be noting that fact. Their owners, just like Leicester's, are obsessed with peddling their 'product' around Asia and they need the 'brand' to match their 'vision' of what is 'marketable'.

    Venn diagram:

    [BUSINESS] [FOOTBALL]

Make them overlap too brashly and you end up looking a ****.

All we're doing is sending our club further afield.

Making more money in other countries is hardly a bad thing, it's not affecting our history or the club as an entity (re. what Cardiff are supposedly doing).

We sold more shirts in Thailand this year than Manchester United. If that's a bad thing then so be it.

Should have said yellow and blue or yellow/blue. Pretty sure the sky blue had some yellow as well. Pretty sure this year's and the green and blue are the only ones.

Nope, I could fit in to a sky blue one back then, so know for a fact there was no yellow. Not a drip!

I can vaguely remember it. I had grown out of tops by then, so the memory jog isn't there.

Actually, just remembered that in my top-wearing era I sported number 2 with the name 'Belly'. Not one person ever said anything to me!

That one was a fake. Think it was the manufacturers read the specs wrong and the pirates copied the wrong kit.
