So the players employ them rather than the clubs in most cases I guess? Just another case of too much player power. Surely if agents are required than the should be vetted or controlled by an established governing body of some sort who can regulate their behaviour. Mind you I guess its all about money for them. I always cringe when I hear an agent say "I just want what's best for the player" yeah right they do
In a way they do, it just so happens that the best deal for the player also results in a huge pay day for them as well
.......and engineer player transfers of clients who were perfectly happy until their agent put his oar in just to make large sums of money. most agents seem only to have their own bank accounts interests in their business dealings, sod the club and the player. plus, all this money is leaving the game with no chance of any of it being re-invested in football.

I suppose the best example we have of that is Hucks's agent saying he'd never play for Norwich again after his loan spell because Norwich weren't a big enough club. Completely ignored the fact that Huck's was happy here and wanted to play here, he realised he'd done well and thought he might be able to get a bit more money from a bigger club
Indeed it does seem since the introduction of vast amounts of money there is certainly less competition at the very top. Generally I'm sure people believe the overall standard and skill of players has increased but is it more entertaining? Probably not
The easy start to control agents would be to ban payments from clubs to agents, therefore meaning the players would then have to pay them themselves the 10% or whatever. Then there would be a reduction of agents used by players.
