I don't see how it's good news, given that any compensation he and AP win, plus all the legal costs involved, will effectively be money that City will miss out on in transfer dealings - whether that means not buying a player we otherwise would have, or perhaps having to sell one we would otherwise have kept.

I'm not saying Barmby shouldn't appeal, and I think the sacking was truly bizarre, but the deed is done and this will merely make the lawyers richer and the club poorer.

Life-long fan, played with distinction throughout his career and for Hull City, took the managers job when nobody else would do it for the money.

Take 'em to the ****ing cleaners Nick.

although nick has every right to appeal.. he's NEVER going to get his job back and this will only delay the appointment of our new manager...

It just occurred to me that the Egyptians could use this as a convenient excuse not to strengthen the team.

So Nick wants the best for Hull and he is appealing?

What does he gain from appealing bar money?

That's just delayed us from hiring a new manager, whether we agree with the decision or not he is never going to come back.

Also Adam Pearson as a consultant can't win compensation.

Well the Allams should have thought of that before the past 7 days of nonsense. This could well cost the club/Allams millions.

How can you be sacked for speaking your mind ? Other than for assault, the Allams dont have a prayer of winning there case from whats been said so far in the open.

What a mess, but the one thing that stands out to me is that the Allams are responsible for all of it, they didn't need to sack the manager and now we will have to deal with the payback from it, what a shambles!

I'll support the club as an entity and agree Barmby will not be back - he was gone since this all started.

This is little more than a spat over some bruised pride.

I'll accept we should have bought a stiker and could have gone to the play-offs and all of the rest of it, but his ultimately isn't about football.

So I'll support Hull City, but have very little faith in how they run the club. Yes, they put their money in and without that, well this whole thing would be academic. I just don't feel that they have sufficient knowledge of how to run a football club or are suitably connected to enable the right decisions to be made.

I agree with you completely - all I was saying was this is not "good news". The only winners in this will be the lawyers, as usual.

    Angry Barmby to appeal sacking

Nick Barmby has declared his intention to appeal against his sacking by Hull and has hit out at the club for making public their reasons for his dismissal.

The 38-year has been dismissed by owners Assem and Ehab Allam after less than six months in charge of the Tigers, as they took exception to comments he made questioning the lack of money made available to him in January.
In a statement issued via the League Managers' Association, Barmby said: "I am obviously hugely disappointed to have been dismissed. I maintain that my sacking was entirely without justification. In everything I have done for the club I have always acted in the best interests of Hull City.
"I was told that I had seven days within which to submit an appeal against my dismissal, and yet the club has now made an official statement, on behalf of the board, stating publicly the alleged reasons for my dismissal and indicating that the search for a new manager will begin immediately.
"I nevertheless intend to appeal. As the matter is subject to an appeal and, if necessary, legal proceedings, it would not be appropriate for me to make any further comment at this stage, despite the fact that the club has seen fit to go public with its version of events."
He added: "I would like to pay tribute to the supporters, players and staff of Hull City Football Club for the huge support they have given me throughout my time at the club, and if my appeal should not be successful I would like to wish the club all the best for the future."

They've treated Nicky like he was some junior manager working for their company who hadn't kissed enough ass, they have no knowledge of football at all, unless they start chucking money at the club again then I really fear for us. It seems hard to get away from the idea that they just wanted the KC and have no interest in us as a club.

Actually, on what's been said "in the open" so far I rather think the Allams would walk the case. In any event I suspect you will find that Nicky's appeal is on the basis of procedure rather than on the reason for dismissal. And, by the way, people are regularly and routinely sacked for speaking their minds. Racist comments may be in your mind, but shout them out at work and you'll probably get sacked. Try it if you don't believe me.

Theres a world of difference between racist comments and what Nicky has said, though i bet he has made some choice phrases regarding Egyptians lately and who would blame him for that
