what would you do if you werent born into royalty and riches that you don't deserve and havent worked for?

Do you sleep well at night picking up your big fat cheque from the taxpayer when hard working people are struggling to make ends meat. Would you like us to pay for a new boat and all we ask for in return is that you wave out of a car window?

I wouldnt go as far as saying Cromwell had the right idea but id like them to go quietly.

I dont buy this notion that they are good for the country and the economy. id like to see the figures of what they actually make us after what they cost us.

All the touristy palaces and sights would still be there without them.

Well this could take us into a new debate because I honestly believe we are a better country with them than without them. I don't like the extended family, the castles and wealth but I just like a monarchy rather than the alternatives.

    I'm with Parker here...

If they are to remain, please step down Liz, (your the second longest serving monarch in the world at the moment, i believe)

Have a word with Charlie boy, advise him to abstain and give it to one of the younger one's.....preferably old ginger nut Harry.

The queen is saying to Phillip, "have you heard those young nasty little boys, upstarts with very little breeding, they bought their own furniture and wallpaper of course, have said large inbred family like ours will no longer receive housing benefit for our homes in London, we may have to move to Stoke, wherever that is"!

I respect that, I just think its a well outdated concept. When a King was ruler and protector then it was a necessity and invaluable. Now she just swans around waves pretends to make small talk abd signs legislation that she probably can't even read.

I agree it gives us a certain identity in the world but im not afraid of change.

Id like to see the results of a general election on the matter.

I could go into a long rant about how scared I am about our world but it would be far to heavy for a football forum

From what I remember the royal family as a whole cost the british public roughly 80p per person which equates to about £ 50 million and bring in around £ 200 million from tourism alone.
Very good for the economy no matter what your political standpoint is

I like the comedy value Philip and Harry bring to the party! I also look forward to having Miss Middleton's face so close to my own crown jewels when she eventually takes to the throne! (I assume/hope they'll do some form of limited-edition money?)

****ing parasites, did you know that in Rutland if you don't leave a will, the queen can kick you wife and kids out of your own home,... and the ****er has on a few occasions. she also stole the jewels given to the people of Britain who fought in foreign lands, They were not meant for here but she has some in here crown, The ****ers also wanted us to pay for Winchester castle when it caught fire, cos the selfish git wouldn't insure it, Parasites all of them and they can **** right off.

I'm not fussed one way or the other regarding the monarchy, after all, they don't hold any real power. However, the queen did go right up in my estimation when it was revealed that she hated Thatcher and all what she stood for.

AGREEED TOTALLY. served my queen and country, and proud of the fact. how many dissenters have served their country, even if they dissagree with a monarchy. AT least when it came to put up or shut up, she served. During WW1 and WW2. As did our [Greek national treasure] How many anti monachists have done their bit?.....................take the benefits though.
