Always talk about us signing new players, and none of us ever get it right. Who do we sell? Lets be sensible, we won't be selling Carroll, Henderson or Downing. My list would be... Kuyt Cole Maxi Aurellio Reason for all of them is the same, that being age. We need to bring through some youngsters and still have plenty of experience without these players.
At the start of the season, I would have agreed with you. But I believe a major reason as to why we have failed is because of the lack of experience in the team. Downing, Carroll, Hendo, Adam don't have much experience of playing for a big club like LFC and I think it got to them. Unless we replace the players you mentioned with established players who are used to playing on the big stage, then I think we will struggle. And when I say big stage, I don't mean the worlds best players who play Champions League or anyone unrealistic as that. But players like Suarez and Coates - both were key fixtures for their country in the Copa America, and both played for a title contending team in Uruguay (Nacional) so they are used to playing for big clubs with big expectations.
Spearing, we badly need another DM for when Lucas isnt playing Henderson? He is so disappointing at the min. Not sell, loan And yeah Kuyt Cole Maxi Aurellio and Doni But wer need QUALITY replacements
DR, don't think that we can sell Doni as I think he came on a 1 season contract. I agree with Kuyt, Cole, Maxi and Aurelio. I would dearly love to sell Downing but I don't think that the club will do that. If we don't sell, and I don't think we should, then I believe that we should arrange loan periods for both Robinson and Flannigan.
Ah right okay Dave Think Derby County were looking at Robinson Agree with Downing but also think we wont
I'd like us to sell Adam and Downing - not going to happen I know. I think Kuyt, Maxi and Aurelio still have a part to play albeit from the bench. Kuyt and Maxi still have goals in them and Aurelio if he can stay fit/get fit has excellent technical skill and awareness. How did Everton get Jelavic when he was all over the papers with his 'come and get me' talk to Liverpool - 'the great Liverpool' he called us. £5m and he's scoring for fun - one of the reasons Comolli got the push???
Why are you worried about Jelavic? Ok so he's scored a few in his first outing in the Prem. Just like Chickpea was and Cisse, is next season will be the tester. Only then will we see if they are really the Big Deal
Dave - I think Jelavic was a steal. tbh I didn't think he would be able to score as freely in the prem as in the Scottish prem but he's getting better and better. You're right of course, I shouldn't be worried about him - but he was there for the taking and could have made the same difference to this half of our season as he's made to Everton's!
We shouldnt go sell crazy. We need squad depth. Players out should be minimal. For starters, some of the players on loan who wont make it with us: Cole Aquilani Ecclestone Amoo Darby Maybe Galucci After that: Aurelio (barely involved this season) Maxi (seems to want to go) I dont like it, but it looks like Kuyt will go to. If Doni either or Jones want to leave, let them, as long as Reina is staying, but not both in one go. If Reina hands in a transfer request, let him go. But one bad season isnt worth selling someone for when they have been so great in the past. If Reina goes I can see us going to Newcastle again to try grab Tim Krul.
If Reina were to go, then Michel Vorm of Swansea would be a good shout? However, I don't expect Reina to leave just yet, nor would we want him to go. We have to remember that we got rid of the GK coach so that hasn't helped things. My only concern is that we would be getting rid of a few older but more experienced members of our squad. IF we were to get rid of them all in one go, then we need to be seriously shrewd or lucky in the transfer market this summer.
My thoughts are: We should sell Bluff...at first he was funny, then it was cute...now he's just embarrassing. Cut our losses I think. Sky has just returned from a ban so he is like a new signing so could do with his punditry skills next season. Luv you keep the 'love in' on the forum...money can't buy that. Saint is getting old, could do with a younger replacement and get some money in whilst we still can....same applies to foredeck. Wishi should be released on a free, she can go strop back home in Argentina or Ja606. If Lucaaas doesn't keel over for me in the final match on fantasy league then I believe he should go too.
Zingy, you're too late with me mate. You'll have to pay them to cart me away Plus me and saint are essential parts of our Social Inclusion Profile
**** off Zingy! If we lose Reina and want to go Prem, I would take Vorm. Seems very similar to Reina so could slot in easier.
The loan players will probably be leaving - Aquilani, Cole, Ecclestone, Amoo, Darby and possibly Pacheco. I also think at least two of Kuyt, Aurelio and Maxi will be going. IMO, a very good move would be to look at shifting Charlie Adam on. I don't think he is good enough but you could argue that he is on fairly low wages and we wouldn't get much for him either. However, it would speak volumes to the others that have recently joining and any potential players coming in. It would tell them that if they don't perform then they won't be staying. Same theory could be applied to Downing, Carroll and Henderson (depending on opinions) too but I don't think any of them will be going anywhere and they provide good squad depth, plus two of them are young. Edit: and whoever it was that said Reina. Pissoff!
I think the club would be foolish to sell Aurelio, Kuyt and Maxi. Kuyt should stay imo, just so we have some experienced heads around to help the younger/newer players slot in. Maxi seems to want to leave, he's been good for us though so no problems with that. Aurelio is quality but made of glass, shame but we should get rid. Cole will be flogged off to whoever wants him, possibly Lille again, his wages are too high for us for what he offers. I think he'd like to go to france with a wage cut, so that's likely. Aquilani has played 23.5 (propper calculation based on contract) games from the 25 needed to automatically make the transfer to Milan, with only 1 game remaining. As suspected, they ****ed our gullible boardroom off, got him on a cheap year long deal (we payed most his wages) and played him just short of what they can get away with. We'll take a major loss but try get rid probably, despite his quality, he just doesn't want to play in England. Doni will be off to Brazil, we need another keeper. A few reserves will leave who aren't going to make it, including Pacheco, but not sure on others. Players like Johnson and Suarez WILL be allowed to leave if the right offer comes in. Johnson provides much width and attacking down the right flank, but is on obscene wages so we'd sell for a reasonable price and replace. Suarez we'll keep unless a substantial offer comes in (maybe 40mill). Something that will be enough to buy a quality replacement + a backup and let us 'rid our hands' of any possible controversy. I'd quite like to keep him, but I suspect he'll go if anyone offers big money - and plenty of teams are sniffing around him.
