I just dont understand the modern English football fan, I really dont.[/QUOTE]

That's the whole idea of the post.

If you think that we need to be more passionate in our support, how do we do it?

Not really a myth, Germany is the most successful country in Europe yet has only won the CL twice in twenty years. Spain has had seven titles and Italy five, money talks....

Make it cheaper - £10 an adult, put away fans in a far top tier west stand corner so we have home fans behind both goals, do away with all the namby pamby Steve Jordan ****e, let fans stand in their seating areas (yeah I know but other clubs manage it), give fans a reason to be in their seat (standing) 30 misn before kick off rather than rushing down as the first kick happens - perhaps stop selling beer at 2.30pm, create a singing section - Yeah I know it seems ****y but it's only the same as a curva in Italy - if you go in here you sing, if you dont want to sing that's totally fine but there are 3 other stands for you.

    That's a starter for you.

I didnt say it was a myth about Germany, I said it was a myth about the premier league. People talk like we dominate it yet 3 winners of the CL with the highest accumulated debt.

So putting tickets to ten pound how does that help solve the so called debt problem? Which there isn't really that bigger problem in the PL which is where the so called 'debt' is.

Its not a sky myth that for the last god knows, English teams win percentage in Europe for the past five years 53%, for the last four years we have had teams in European finals, bar this year when was the last time Germany did that?

Germany's win percentage in Europe, 37%......

Add in the fact England have more teams so therefore its harder to sustain a higher percentage and yet again you are proved wrong.

And how many finalists/semi-finalists in say, the last 10 years?

I'm pretty sure that's happening this summer.

How many English teams have won the CL since the inception of the Premier League?

Anyway, we were talking about atmosphere and this somehow turned into a discussion on most success. Once again I would say hands down that the PL is the worst for an exciting fans experience in the whole of Europe. Name me one - just one - top flight ground that is even slightly intimidating to go to as an opposition fan?

That's the same stat you always roll out and already the second time on this thread, it's 3 we know. You can't ignore the amount of finalists and semi finalists though.

So your admitting you was wrong? Thats humble of you.

As i was saying if you knew anything about German football you would realise this is probably one of the worst examples you could have picked, their atmosphere are very similar to ours in the sense they are one of the few countries who fans actually care about whats going on, on the pitch. If you want initmidating atmosphere's where the crowd don't even care about the football go to Italy, Turkey, Poland etc..... I'll gladly drive you there myself.

Stoke. I think any fan that has been there in the last few years would tell you the place is as pleasant as the gaza strip.

I was trying to steer it back to the subject. Which bit should I be admitting I was wrong about?

I really dont get why people go on about this. You're basically asking how many teams did we have that werent good enough? And where do you draw the line? Ok, how many Premier League teams made the last 16 this year?

    See my point?

There may only be one more win for an English team, but when it comes to getting to the latter stages of the competition, there's a massive gulf between English and German teams success.

I did an assignment for Uni on it a few weeks ago and sent it to the club, they seemed quite impressed.

And to improve the experience for supporters isn't to turn football back to the 80s where it was a dangerous place to be, but to make the experience more pleasant and to bring through families.

Stokes atmosphere is almost as over-rated as Leeds.

    It's actually ****!

The point is they are better than the German teams that don't make it to the semis or finals. As for not being good enough that's just ball. The current Barca and Real sides are two of the best teams ever and they didn't make the final this year, not because they aren't good but because they weren't as good as another team on one night. There are a lot of good teams and only one can win it.

I agree, I didn't mean the atmosphere as such just the fact the place is as appealling as downtown islamabad. Bottles thrown at you outside the ground because your team dared to score a late equaliser and other such fun activities are the norm at the Britannia.
