The game is scheduled to be played at Anfield on Tuesday 8th of May 2012 at 8PM. The game will be shown on Sky Sports One (Build-up begins at 7.30PM) and BBC Radio Five Live will have the radio rights to the game. (Build-up begins at 7PM) Streams will also be posted before and during the game. Preview. Just three days after Liverpool & Chelsea locked horns in the F.A Cup Final in a game which Chelsea won, the two sides meet again but this time, it’s in the Premier League. Yes, Liverpool & Chelsea meet in what is an important game for both sides. The home side, Liverpool, will be looking to end a disappointing home league campaign on a high and try and push to finish above Merseyside rivals, Everton. The away side, Chelsea, still harbour ambitions of finishing in the top 4 and after the weekend’s results, that is very much a possibility. The home side, Liverpool, have had a frustrating campaign in the league. Currently sitting 9th in the league, that wasn’t what the owners, players, manager and fans had in mind when the season began way back in August. The lack of home form has been one of the contributing factors to the league position. Just 5 wins have been built up at Anfield this season and for a side that is looking towards the higher reaches of the Premier League, that is a major disappointment. However, the team has seemed to perform against teams higher up in the table. Claims that the players up their game against so called ‘bigger’ sides can be backed up by looking at the results. If we look at the current top 4, Liverpool have picked up credible draws against City, United & Spurs and have beaten Arsenal at the Emirates. This should give Liverpool confidence going into this game and the recent league form with Chelsea will also give Kenny Dalglish and his side confidence. In the 2010/2011 season, Liverpool did the double over Chelsea with a 2-0 win at Anfield and a 1-0 win at Stamford Bridge. In a weird twist of fate, the players who got the goals in those wins last season, Fernando Torres & Raul Meireles, currently ply their trade in the blue of Chelsea. Earlier in the season, ex- Chelsea player Glen Johnson got the winning goal as Liverpool defeated Chelsea 2-1. With the side having played just three days ago, you could expect changes. The big man up front, Andy Carroll, will be pushing for a start. The much maligned striker almost changed the F.A Cup Final towards Liverpool with a goal and was millimetres from dragging Liverpool back on level terms. It was an excellent performance from Liverpool’s number 9 and he could have forced his way into the starting 11 alongside Luis Suarez. The away side, Chelsea, have had a season of two half's. Starting the season under Andre Villas-Boas, hopes were high that AVB could change the team around and inject some youth into the side. It didn’t work however and he left in early March. Roberto Di Matteo was brought in until the end of the season and at the moment, that seems like an excellent decision. Many were sceptical about this move when it was first announced but Di Matteo has transformed Chelsea. He has given them hope of a top 4 finish and against all the odds, has got Chelsea into the Champions League final. As previously mentioned, he won the F.A Cup as well with victory over Liverpool on Saturday. He has rejuvenated the playing staff and brought the best out of players previously underachieving. This makes Chelsea a far more difficult prospect than in the first half of the season when Liverpool beat them at Stamford Bridge. They will have the momentum after the cup final victory but you can expect changes. Ex-Liverpool striker, Fernando Torres, will most likely be given a starting place on his first visit back to Anfield since his move away from Anfield in January 2011. He can expect to get an ‘interesting’ reception on this return! With Chelsea still having hopes of a top four position, you can expect Di Matteo to go for it because anything less than three points and all the pressure goes back to the Champions League final in Munich in a few weeks. However, Chelsea’s recent away form of late hasn't been too great. Just 7 points have been collected out of a possible 24 away from Stamford Bridge and this could be one of the factors which means that Chelsea can’t grab that all important 4th place. So, one team with a poor home record and the other team with a disappointing away record of late. All set for a belting 0-0! Injury News. Liverpool. Charlie Adam: Knee Injury. Hello Chaps, ........Well trust Spurs to well and truly bottle it and **** thing up ..........After our piss poor performance against the Geordies I was resigned to 5th/6th and Chelsea playing the reserve side for the last two games and resting some of the first team for the CL final...........anyway that aside and seeing as now it's still possible to get 4th (although I can’t really see it )........I'm going for a 0-2 Mata and Torres(Torres is not a wind up )
OUCH thats enormous happens to be a quite incredible forcaster of football results! I was thinking we'd scrape it 1-0, but now he's forecasted 2-0 I shall have to back off, and bow to his superior instincts!

Can't get excited at all about this one - though I'll watch it on Sky! I think it will be a dull and boring game so with my forecasting skill it's likely to end up 6 - 6. That's why I've voted for a Liverpool win
http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/news/latest-news/kenny-let-s-finish-on-a-high Kenny Dalglish is hoping his players can sign off their home campaign in style with victory over Chelsea tonight. Two days on from the FA Cup final at Wembley, the two sides meet again at Anfield with Dalglish urging his men to reward the Liverpool fans for their loyal support during the course of the campaign. “It would be fitting if we could finish off at home with a victory,” Dalglish said. “Everyone knows the home results haven’t been great this season despite some excellent performances along the way. "It would be a little bit of solace for the punters who have given us tremendous support throughout the season if we could get a win. "We want them to go home with a certain amount of satisfaction and we can do that by getting the three points. "It would be fantastic for everyone to get a positive result – for both the players and the supporters." Liverpool can move into the top eight with victory this evening while Chelsea will be looking to keep alive their hopes of a top four finish. Despite this fixture falling just 72 hours after the Wembley final, the boss will resist the temptation to make too many changes to his line-up. “We will need to assess how everyone is after the weekend,” Dalglish added. “We will see what we’ve got as a few bumps and bruises may well have cleared by Tuesday morning. "We’re not going to give anything away but it will be the strongest team we’ve got from the players available.”
Aint gonna guess a score but i would start robinson over enrique, like to see sterling come on and terror bosingwa if he is playing
If we cans omehow win our last two games, I think we would finish seventh (can't see Everton beating Newcastle, especialy with them chasing the CL spots). If we lost, we can drop down to tenth. Those three places are worth £1.5m. Will FSG, Kenny and co see it as importantly as me...? Not sure to be honest. If we lose tonight, we could still finish eighth if we win our final game and Fulham lose (so long as Chelsea don't destroy our goal difference of course). There is no doubt about it, this game means more to chelsea than it does to Liverpool. Edit: I don't understand these reports about us resting players. Ok, playing a few fresher players is fair enough but to say we are going to rest players is ridiculous. We only have one more game to play after this and there isn't a great deal left to play for. Play the strongest eleven available, lets try and finish on a high and, as a bonus, lets try and piss Chelsea off by stopping them getting top four!
This will be his first game back at Anfield won't it...? Reports are suggesting a hostile atmosphere for him and, considering the response Meireles got, I don't thnk they will be wrong either. I fear that this will only make Torres more determined, ie - the worst thing we could do. I am tempted to put a wager on him scoring but doubt I would get decent odds. This would either jinx it or soften the blow!
Just this game and Swans and then it's silly season, I may tally up the players we are linked with, I'll start a thread listing every single link to a player in the media.
That would be great, i know some people dont like all the rumours etc. but i like the building up of what we could have although it leads to disappointment nearly all the time
