if number 1 was ever going to happen it would have happend by now...we had a chance to make a statement....i suppose i should just be glad we are fighting for 4th in the last match? but i find it slightly agitating considering the lead we had...and yesterday our destination was in our hand....i dunno sometimes i dont like to say this about my own club but theres some serious balls missing......17/18 corners again!! comeone the half time team talk that would have stoked a fire up my arse would have been to just have a look at the league table.....something cant be right here and unless it is addressed i want Harry its as simple as that..he cant solve this..he cant target players and persuade Levy to purchase..i dont think Levy is a miserly chairman..he wants success..i think he is involved with the football aspect in that he wants good football at WHL..that is why he went and got VDv..regardless of wether Redknapp wanted him or not.......balls,ottle..call it what you want but it needs to be exorcised from this club...really am sick of it...29 years of supporting Spurs...so please dont call me fickle...im entitled to this view and can prove it with facts AUDERE EST FACERE is the logo for a bloody reason! i dont expect trophies every year....but when something is there for the taking ..then we should be taking it..so much ball..so much possesion..so much attacking..so i know what lets take VDV off and stik on Parker!!! even a tired VDV would have more creativity than a super fit Parker! sorry if all this has been discussed fellas...technical glitch meant my rant had to wait till today. i did think we played well..but theres something missing somwhere..and its somwhere in the mentality.
my apologies to City..i thought he was a city fan..he is a Spanner? well he doesnt even deserve a reply! lol been one of them weeknds...am in a ranting mood...anyway off to watch the Avengers Assemble in 3d.....ill get back to you for some great ideas for world domination.
Aah i see now. No, probably not is the direct answer to your Q., but this Mancini, is he the same Mancini that lost an 8pt lead the same as SAF? I'm taking many points on board here about harry, but us chucking a points lead is nothing to cry about, everyones done it, it just shows what the league is like.
You have to look to the future as well though, Lidls. I don't agree about our lack of strength in depth and I'd suggest that Redknapp has actually compromised it with some of his policies. The likes of Pavlyuchenko, Pienaar, Corluka and Bassong were better than a lot of the squad players that those we're competing with have available. He couldn't or wouldn't keep them happy, so they asked to move on and weren't replaced adequately. Some of those that stayed with the squad were either incapable of contributing or weren't allowed to do so (Dos Santos, Kranjcar, Rose, Gomes, etc.). Levy had his hands tied in January and possibly even before that because of Redknapp's apparent commitment to the England job, his health issues and his court case. Whilst Redknapp got the best out of our first XI, he clearly failed to do so for the rest of his available players, alienating a substantial number of them along the way. If we do manage to qualify for the CL next season, it's hard to see any reason why we'll push on from there under Redknapp. Assuming that we manage to keep most of our first XI intact, I can't really see how we'll improve our squad, as it's unlikely that people will join it with a view to pushing for a starting place. We can bring in a number of targets to bolster weak positions as back-up, but if they're never used, then what's the point?
Considering the players that constitute our first eleven, I don't think we're punching above our weight at all.
It would be interesting to see what the ratio of shots is against the ratio of possession. Since xmas we have dropped points against the survivalists without learning a thing. Teams know how to play us but we don't seem to know how to play them. We need a medium overhaul of manager and half a dozen players. Redknapp to go first with a good tactical manager getting in the players he wants.
Sorry, Little Luke, but I have to vehemently disagree. The only reason why we are not battling it out for 6th with NUFC is because Arsenal, Chelsea, and 'Pool have been utterly dire this season, by their own standards. We simply cannot judge ourselves by where we finish in the league this season, to judge whether or not Redknapp has taken us forward; what we have to do, instead, is look at how far behind United and £ity we are. That tells its own story. At best, we have trodden water this season, but I actually believe that we have gone backwards. Do you believe that Arsenal, Chavs and Mousers are going to stand still over the Summer? I certainly don't. But if we keep hold of Harry, we won't move forward, of that I am convinced. This was our season to have (a) challenged for the title, and (b) at the very least, to be safe in 3rd, to take advantage of the weakness in those other clubs. We cannot bank on them being as weak next season. If 'Pool's Yank owners know what's best for their bargain-basement investment, they'll get rid of "King" Kenny in the Summer, and either get Benitez back, or invest in a big-name manager. Chavs and Gooners will bring in marque signings, and will not be as weak next season. If we're lucky and finish 4th, and Chavs lose to Bayern, and we get CL footy next season, we might - just might - keep hold of Moddy and Bale, and perhaps buy the marque striker that we've needed since Berbatov left. But, even then, if we've still got Redknapp at the helm, we've got to put up with lack of proper rotation, useful players being loaned out at the wrong times, and mickey mouse tactics that see players played out of position. We'll do well to finish 6th next season. Please forgive me if I do not celebrate 'Arry's marvelous achievements to the same degree as you
Redknapp has to go. He mugged us all off with the England speculation and is a media whore who loves the sound of his own voice. He was a great short term appointment but you only gotta look at his record to see he doesn't stick around anywhere too long as that isn't where his skills lie. He would be great at somewhere like Villa next year, he would bring them back into the top 10 (obviously D.Bent wouldn't be too happy) but his time at Spurs is over. Thank him for his work and show him the door please Levy.
I think McDogleish is doing a wonderful job. When his work is finished at Villa, he should be recommended as the next manager of The Chavs
Sorry Hiag, preposterous. a) We have not got, or did have a team, let alone a squad that can do that this season, no way is the group of players we have capable of that, and should never be expected of them. b) To suggest we should be resting easy in 3rd, when we've never done it before is blind optimism at best too. What makes you think the goons and the chavs are going to solve their 'numerous' problems in one summer, and hit the ground running stomping all over us?...not likely imo. For the Chavs, AVB did the right thing starting to wind down the old guard, but they got him hoofed out, RDM is just a puppet for JT Lamps and Drog now, they're running it, let em get on with it. The old farts having an Indian Summer riding a crest of good luck won't last...that wave will crash on the beach sooner rather than later! The Goons too have problems that won't be solved in one window, all hingeing on RVP staying, so a bit premature with that claim. I doubt ours will too, but whatever happens we'll be there or thereabouts, and until a few things change around the club its the best we can hope for. Before a ball was kicked this season, you and everyone else would've took 4th. Everybody's, including our ups and downs during this season are irrelevant at the end, its about where you finish....oh! **** me....there's another game to go yet!
When Mancini replaced Mark Hughes he had the capability to buy every player he wanted and pay them whatever they asked for. If we could do that we might have been able to get Jose or Guardiola but we cant. Our top players only get what relatively mediocre squad players get at City or the Chavs. How many other managers are there who could keep hold of Modric, Bale and Van de Vaart as well as getting Walker to sign for six years with our pay structure? Harry has had less than four years at Spurs so far. It took Ferguson longer to win anything with United. Maybe next week we will be third and definitely in the CL or we may be fifth and in the Europa League. You knew what to expect when you signed up to support Spurs so stick with it or go away and find someone else to support.
LDL - got to agree with you. Hoddle is a God - your impatience is amazing considering how long you've supported Spurs.
This has been a very frustrating season, but I'm not inclined to turn on a team that has been punching above its weight, as disappointing as it may turn out. I don't see another manager out there who will come to Spurs and do better than Redknapp. If one is out there, I grant you Redknapp has not shown enough loyalty to expect much in return. But all things considered, I think it's a lot likelier his leaving will begin an exodus of top players than not. And as frustrating as the season has been, I've got to watch some great football.
Well, this is going nowhere because we're never going to agree. Sure, I like nice football. But, after all these years, I want to see us WIN something - not just be the plucky also rans. I think we have some great players, and the basis of a team that could challenge for the Prem title. I still seriously doubt that Redknapp is going to do that. I would love to be wrong but I don't think I am. Not that it's going to matter, because I still have a strong feeling that Levy is going to pull the trigger on him before long.
Wrong. I'm pissed off with Redknapp, not impatient. There is a difference. I was prepared to be patient with Jol, because I could see that he put his heart and soul into our club, and under him we made genuine progress. What he did with us was genuine progress, too, not Redknapp's "2 points from 8 games" bollocks. We were a mid-table team before Jol came in, and got us two consecutive 5th place finishes. By the time Redknapp came in, we were already a very strong side with good depth to the squad, and it was only the disastrous stewardship of non-English speaking Ramos that demoralised the team. I simply no longer trust Redknapp. If he goes and we lose half our squad, and we have to wait another 5 seasons for the next manager to re-build and make us competitive again, I'm prepared for that.
impatient, spoilt etc etc..its all a load of tosh. We argue with every fan about how much prestige, history etc etc we have...yet if someone dares to say that the team should be doing better then they are impatient? glory seekers? etc etc...remind me of this glory we have had because if i can recall the last time we won anything of note was 21 years ago...but we are all still here..supporting through thick and thin...being disgruntled but carrying on...so 'impatient' is the wrong word to use in order to try to make some fans look like they are not proper 'fans' etc. many are botherd because they do care...botherd because they feel as though the team can and should do better...platforms were raised but now this phrase 'punching above our weight' is bandied about...so in other words we should be competing for Europa and anything else is a bonus?? yes lets not aim for the stars incase we end up landing on the moon..thats way above us...lets aim for the mountain..you never know..we might just end up on a hill!! impatience and ambition...very thin line....but dont question each others loyalties for gods sake...i think we are all passionate and everyone wants the best for THFC...however some of us dont have to think that everything Redknapp says or does is gospel...only someone naive would think that.
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...and-Martin-Jol-for-clubs-demise-Football.html "Martin Jol went for an interview at Newcastle while he was employed by us," Levy said.
Yes, totally agree. As I've said, so long as Spurs are successful, I don't really care whether Harry boy stays, or goes.
