In a pre-season burst of insane enthusiasm, not only did I predict we'd go up as Champions, but also that we'd score 20 more goals than last season and concede 20 less. Thank you Yann Kermorgant! His goal on Saturday meant that we scored 82 goals this season as opposed to 62 in 2010-2011 - twenty more (just). As for those conceded, it was a no contest - 66 last season against 36 this season - thirty less. The figure of 20, was of course the number of clean sheets that we kept in the League this season, I don't think any of us would have got anywhere near predicting that one. What a season! What a team! What a manager! Come On You Reds!
That I'm not making any, Stu! I think I've exhausted my quota for several years this season. As you probably know, I don't bet but I do go in for sweeps and I'm awaiting the results of the final round of Premiership games for a big one I'm in. If I win that one, I may never make another prediction in my life. My predictions for Champions of each division were - Manchester United, Brighton (OK, I thought Mackail-Smith was the last piece of the jigsaw), Our Goodselves and Swindon Town. Add the final positions up, and the lowest total wins. Winner gets £250, Second £75, Third £25. Fingers Crossed.
And the winner is...Tewkes! Apparently I won this a fortnight ago, but second and third were only separated by one point going into Sunday's games. My total was 14 - 2 for Utd., 10 for Brighton, 1 for the Mighty Addicks and 1 for Paulo Town. Next highest was 29, a Brentford fan - Third place was 30, a Notts County fan. Clean sweep for League One. Apparently the first Premiership fan finished in twentieth place - what does this tell us? This pretty much pays for my tickets for next season, especially as I'll only be paying half-price at The Valley after September and I doubt whether I'll be able to get many away tickets. Enjoyed this one.
Tewkes, well done. Another win for the Addicks. Sounds like a fun game - available to evryone next season ?
Wish it was Stu - this was a one-off at work, created by an IT contractor. Premise is easy apparently if you're a whizz with HTML (which I'm not). Create a secure website, allow uploads of predictions with e-mail addresses, with the cumulative totals being calculated on a progressive basis, create a holding bank account and show details for electronic transfer of stake money. Cinch really...
