If you care that St Nic was beaten you've not watched Irish early season 4 year old + races for the last few years. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
The lad is learning fast, takes talent to do that........must have thought SNA was some kind of Secretariat or Nijinsky or something? Good grief!
Evening all just back from work - watched SNA replay. The lad is 18 and has just won a classic at the weekend under an excellent ride. Still learning yes he was at fault but the one with the red face should be Johnny Murtagh because he was just as bad and obviously one of the best jockeys around.
Hmmmmmmmmmmm. Just watched it "What was it you wanted son, a new Ferrari Enzo? Well you can **** off. You can have 10kEuros and that's your limit."
I am not saying it was a good ride, far from it in fact. However, I don't think it was as terrible as some have suggested. At the end of the day Murtagh, Smullen, Berry and Lordan were happy to sit even further back than Joseph O'Brien. No doubt he will regret not sitting handier but he was obviously expecting to be able to pick them up. He was caught out by the ground. A misjudgement yes but no worse than many other rides you see every day of the week.
They were not riding SNA though. If any of them had done that on him, it would be the same criticism.
People also forgetting the race was over 1m2f. This is a horse running on at the end of 1m4f every time and has even won over further at Chester. It wasn't his finest moment but two days ago he was amazing on Camelot and the sprinter yesterday.
Makes me wonder why he was running in that race RV? 10 furlongs was nevergoing to suit him. I don't like the way AOB treats these races as if they're just there for him to get a bit of work into his horses
A few of you are being a bit harsh. Without O'Brien, Irish racing would be a joke and Joseph put in a fantastic winning ride in the Classic a couple of days ago. Is it really that much of an insult to us if they choose to leave their best horses a little short for these inconsequential group 3's?
if anyone was thinking of backing bonfire for the derby i would do it soon. Very good chance that it is the pricewise selection in tomorrows paper and the 16/1 will be gone. I'm not backing it myself, don't know to much about the horse.
Slight misjudgement....big deal, bigger deal for any numpty who took 2/5...Gunroom tools. The ride he gave Camelot was sublime...Sure he's 18 but a real talent and he'll get it right more often than wrong. Nepotism?..is our constitution not based on that?
Can't believe anybody would even consider Bonfire for the Derby...staggering tbh...absolutely no chance. He finished third in France but the winner came from farther back and passed him easily and drew clear of Bonfire..don't buy the "unlucky loser" tag.."unlucky losers" are generally that..losers.. All about opinions though!
