Take a look at the last sentence of your first post. Caps lock on stamping your feet in a rage? Try the balanced approach mate, there's pro and anti Kenny posters here and the debate will turn into a slanging match if we aren't careful.
I am actually pro Kenny but that doesn't mean you have to bury your head up your arse and blindly follow. If everyone acts like he,s done no wrong he'll believe it and stay the same. As I said,if the aim was to finish 8th he achieved it,if not he failed.
Nice to have a new poster with strong opinions, don't forget to take the occasional swipe at the Mancs Welcome to the forum.
And how many other teams have bought in players, the might take time to gel...But since Jan we've got worse, not better. Teams come to Anfield and park the bus, what a shock!!! Been happening for years, we lack pace and creativity in midfield, we bought the only winger in the league afraid to run at a full back. It is Kenny's team selections, Kenny's tactics and Kenny's choices that have led to our worse league performance in 20 years.
Imo Kenny should be given next season to either prove his detractors right or his belief in his own management flourishing. Of course he never set out to finish 8th,but only the deluded would believe we would deffo finish top 4/5 with a rake of new players that needed bedding in.We are and never have been in danger of relegation this season as a season lasts from start to finish not from january to may. Whether he walks, gets sacked or stays is out our hands and we can only express our own thoughts on the subject.
Haha that had me! Not even going to get involved in this. He has done poorly and if you can't see it then you're a little blinkered. Not solely his fault, but he has a large part in that. Having said that I now want to give him another year to sort it out.
Right going to play Devils advocate here. I think it can be seen that I'm squarely in the give Kenny a chance (as well as new acquisitions) camp. But....does anyone believe that KD, no matter what, only intended to be in the job a couple of years to steady the ship. Because if this is the case I don't want them giving him more money this summer. Why? Because if a new manager is coming the season after we're tying him to two years of another managers vision. I accept Kenny getting the money last year. I also understand the concept. All the players on paper were solid guys to settle through the squad. (ship steadying) the Primer before the expensive paint so to speak. Obviously that didn't pan out in year 1 as well as anyone hoped & the primer turned out to be quite dear lol. (I'm still hopeful for year 2!) But is there any sense of KD being given the money & freedom to start buying the quality players if he's not going to be there in year 3? It might have worked if the DOF was still here & he was the one with the real long term vision to continue regardless of manager but he's not so what happens now? 3 options: 1)the owners have to come out at the end of the season and categorically state that KD is the manager (dependent on internal targets bring met) for the foreseeable future & he'll get the cash in the next 3/4 seasons to finish the project. 2)the owners say KD is here for next year to finish the bedding of the basic squad. He'll get funds for necessary replacements but nothing more, while the owners take their time finding the right next generation manager I.e letting those who might want the job to clear their schedule the year after. KD's happy because this is what he stated all along. We all need to be patient because the world class players aren't coming this year & we're not going to realistically compete for the top honours again for another year but we see the clearly defined long term plan. 3)KD is moved up or out once the New manager (i assume already targeted) is contracted in the summer very early on. That man is given the funds to buy the quality players to bring the squad up to truly competitive level. As much as I support KD the last thing I want is the owners giving him money if they don't see him in the Managers role the year after. It just doesn't make sense! Thoughts? "It is Kenny's team selections, Kenny's tactics and Kenny's choices that have led to our worse league performance in 20 years. " I haven't been on here for ages. I took a break from footie forums because of all the hate and rubbish and non-constructive criticism being flung around. I came back on today to see what people are saying and it's no surprise that like in 'real life' cyber life shows up the 50/50 split in opinions on Kenny. I highlighted the above quote because at what point do the players, you know the professional footballers, paid outrageous amounts for being top of their class in their profession, take their responsibility for not doing their job?
"Who's motivating them? " I can't believe you said that. Isn't playing professional football for the greatest club ever to exist not motivation enough - if it isn't then they're in the wrong game. When things aren't going well - whether that's with the club, the manager, the media - whatever - the players need to dig deep and get on with what they're there for and for me that's giving 100% every time I lace my boots up.
