How do you see it as "Mock" offense? Seriously, have you an insight into my values and beliefs. Using Torbett/BJK as a rebuttal or a foil to an argument is utterly pointless as well as being heinous. The Gough riposte (and it is a riposte) is often used as a counter argument (in reality another point scoring exercise of sheer futility) but never by me, therefore I am fully entitled to chin people who talk about Torbett/BJK for the fools they are. It's beneath contempt if only because the people perpetrating this hoarly old chestnut do not give a monkey's about the victims. I have no time for people who bring it up - not because it offends me on a personal level - but simply because they have shown themselves unable to have an argument/debate without resort to simple muck raking and name calling. Football rivalry is childish, Russ. That sums it up perfectly for me, winding up other fans is part of the game and has been for as long as I've been alive. The phoney OF cyber war is the most childish thing I've ever contributed to. Most of the cyber OF fans are as thick as **** yet get off looking semi intelligent by re-posting pish that they've stumbled across on other sites (no doubt). Personally, I find it amusing and frustrating in equal measure, but we skirt round the real issues in cyber land. Scottish football is dying yet nobody seems to care.
It can be childish but that doesn't mean we have to swim in the **** with the ******s. I try to distance myself from the real eejits who follow Celtic, and my own views on the extreme element of our support are pretty well known (I think). I like a laugh and a joke as much as the next man (probably moreso, believe it or not) and I like a sick joke or two, i'm not above that but I will never attempt to wind up the opposition by any means necessary. I know you well enough and I suspect you are the same as me - perhaps with one or two lapses - I know you and Nev use it to Wum and that doesn't bother me in the slightest because I know you don't really care for that sort of nonsense. Others seem to take it far too seriously though and pull it out like a knife when they are flummoxed for a reasonable response.
Our songs tend to be about us, our community, our politics (bar the odd light hearted Jelly and Ice Cream style jibe). Rangers songs tend to be about us too, snipes at our community and our politics - BJK, The Famine is over go home, we're up our in knees in Fenian blood. Why don't you celebrate your own team and culture instead of focussing your efforts on ethnic Irish slurs?
If rangers are dying why are celtic and their fans so terrified of having to tackle them on a level playing field again anytime soon. Their threats of protests and boycotts if the league don't take severe action against rangers prove that they are worried about having some competition in the SPL.
