[h=1]SPL delay decisions financial fair play and voting rights[/h] By Chris McLaughlin Senior Football Reporter, BBC Scotland Scottish Premier League clubs meeting at Hampden have delayed voting on financial fair play rules until 30 May. Proposals for increased penalties for clubs in administration include the docking of 10 points for two seasons and the loss of 75% of income for three years. Dunfermline chairman John Yorkston told BBC Scotland there was not enough information to make a decision. Rangers did not attend Monday's SPL meeting at Hampden. Current rules state that, should a member club wish to transfer its share in the league to a new company, the decision to accept or reject lies with the SPL board. The top flight clubs were also due to vote on whether to change the league's voting stucture but that too has been delayed until the end of May. More to follow.
Looks like John Yorkton is going to be the line voice speaking up for integrity. The rest will be going do the 30 pieces of silver. See my thread on Dons board Dev. **** em **** en all
How can any Scottish club sell season tickets ?? How can the other spl teams plan for next season ????Rangers are killing our game Right in front of us, next season fixture list normally comes out first week in June. Surely Celtic have to make a statement , this uncertainty could be costing us millions
There is a fly in the ointment though. To be able to apply to join the SPL as a "Newco", New improved Rangers FC need to be a member club of the SFA. That is just one of the obstacles they face. Maybe the SFA will be as forgiving as the SPL appear to be and give them membership, if they do New Improved Rangers FC will automatically be barred from Europe for 3 seasons. . If that's the only punishment they receive (in real terms) then I suppose we will have to just suck it up and see.
Ultimately this could have been a huge waste of time. If they flout sporting integrity then UEFA will act and punish us so whether rangers want to play in the spl is most likely up to UEFA, nobody else.
I don't see how a delay in this decision could possibly benefit Rangers, more uncertainty when they need to clarity on their position.
Rangers asked for the postponment, strange. Wonder why the stalling tactics could the bubble have burst el big house falling down?
Well it appears from RTC blog that any newco needs 21 days approval so there isn't enough time to vote them into the spl this year and avoid the sanctions. Looks like this is the reason for the postponment from rangers, not wanting to scare bill off.
Well yes, how do you sell season tickets next year when you've no idea which league you are playing in next year. I can't understand how delaying the decision on possible sanctions can benefit them.
Maybe it was delayed to allow Bill Miller time to get a passport ,hence the reason he hasn't made it to Scotland
My head feels like it's been pummeled and I've been asleep for the past few hours, conked out on painkillers so I've no idea what all of this means. Good, bad or indifferent? Also, why is Brian Kennedy trying to get Craig Whyte's shares? http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/17983600
A couple of years back Cork city were given 24hrs notice of their demotion. I hate to say it, but we need a hash tag. Celtic structure the Seasaw tickets around the Huns matches. It would be silly to pay for them
The 21 day rule. Would they not have know this prior to the meeting and so that would render the meeting useless even before they held it. Doncaster said the vote is 8-4...............12 clubs. So rangers get a vote for themselves as to whether the Newco get into the SPL. So Oldco votes for Newco??? Sounds a bit unfair to me and seems to lack integrity. D&P asked for the postponement.....................maybe Miller is about to pull out of the deal and they want time to find a new bidder. I feel that despite the best Machavelian plans by Scottish football in general, Uefa will make the final decision. Other European clubs will be denied money and may have already petitioned Uefa for harsh penalties against rfc. Certainly, if the EBT case goes against rfc it means that the letters were used to avoid tax and so the players receiving EBTs were inelligible. European clubs were denied access to CL and UC Group Stages and as such lost considerable revenue. Uefa will punish Newco harshly.................................................all assuming that there is a Newco. HMRC are not likely to agree to a CVA so off to court we go. Whyte will not hand his shares and Ibrox over lightly, so off to court we go. Ellis claims 24% of Whyte's shares, so off to court we go. Ticketus claim that their 80 page contract was for seats at Ibrox regardless of who plays there, not necessarily STs, so off to court we go. God knows when this will all finish, but I dont. Enjoy it while it lasts............................................................ and lasts and lasts and lasts.
Ahh by May 30th Ross County will take Dunfermline's place at the SPL table and therefore Dunfermline would not be presented with a scenario whereby voting Rangers back into the SPL would be voting themselves to be relegated.
I thought it would be along the lines of allowing miller the opportunity to conclude his purchase and shift to newco, which will then apply - and be given - a place back in the spl ; and with the delayed vote this means any harsher financial and/or points penalties would not apply to the newco as they have joined the league prior to the spl financial fair play rules being passed. Seems to me this is exactly the " comfort " miller was supposedly seeking from the spl prior to bidding " unconditionally ".
Jim Ballantyne Airdrie and sfl chairman and on the board of sfa , yesterday attended the bigot fest Linfield / Rangers game . Saying he had Rangers fighting fund badge on his blazer !!! Everything that is wrong with Scottish football .
