Agree totally with this^^^^,cant believe Noblelox has seen that many games considering his head is buried in the sand! And before you ask my right to comment I was there for the Famous ST Etienne game so have been supporting them for a very long time.
Right, back to the OP! Until Carroll was introduced, it was possibly the worst performance I had seen all season. It was not only an embarrassment to LFC, but to football as a whole. Strong words I know! The lack of experience in the centre with Spearing and Henderson really showed and we failed to take control. Downing was non existent and afraid to take on one of the worst right backs in the league. He and Enrique have no chemistry whatsoever. And whilst we're talking about Jose, he was our worst player. Defensively and attacking wise - everything went wrong for him. At the start of the season, he seemed to outmuscle and outpace everyone but he looked lightweight and slow against Ramires, who admittedly is no slouch. Suarez was isolated for most of the match until Carroll came on and then he could pick up the ball from a deeper position. But then again, everyone picked up their game since Carroll came on. Henderson got a hold of the ball more and looked more threatening, Enrique outmuscled Drogba, Suarez got on the ball. The only player who didn't do anything was Downing and I am starting to lose patience with him. One thing I will say is well done to Andy Carroll. Until his arrival, I would never have guessed that we were playing in the FA Cup final. We needed more winners, more players who wanted it badly and no one showed. AC came on and asserted his dominance, won the aerial battles and scored a brilliant goal. He was definately my man of the match. What to do in the summer - the midfield is painfully weak. We can talk about needing a striker which is true but with the likes of Spearing, Henderson and Shelvey in CM, who are good players need to develop further if they want a starting place in the team. The lack of dominance and experience was clear to see.
I can't and won't argue with a word of that. The player that I was most angry with was Downing and I think you hit the nail on the head when you described him as being "non existent and afraid to take on one of the worst right backs in the league." I just could not believe that he continually checked when faced up and relied upon Enrique to take the ball on. That was cowardice of the first order for me.
What was worse was that every time he passed too early to Enrique; so the defender merely stepped across & covered. Every time! Might as well not have bothered.
I am not a 'Kenny out' advocate, but I believe his decisions did cost us the game on saturday. The decision not to play Gerrard where Spearing played, and Carroll up front with Suarez. Hindsight is a wonderful thing though.
If we were a bit smarter- Gerrard, Aqualini, Meireles, Adam, Lucas, Joe Cole, Spearing, Hendo. This should not have been a problem but we were quick to get rid of meireles and loan out Aqua who looks to be coming back again. That problem lies with kenny and comolli or whoever made the calls to sell Raul and loan Aqua.
Actually in all seriousness what are the fans thoughts Kopite? Two cup finals is very good going. Does it mask the disappointing league campaign? Hopefully you're better in the league next season.
I think that even if we had won the final it wouldn't mask our poor league form. the owners are obviously not happy about it.
That's what I was thinking. Look on the bright side though. You could be an Aberdeen fan like me. That's torture these days.
all i'll say is i seem to be able to recognize people who are genuine fans but some guys just seem to be able to jump down others throats no matter what.
