Which pundit do you hate the most? Pundits I hate: Craig Burley (has not forgiven us for selling him and still bitter about being dropped for the 97 fa cup Final) Garth Crooks (thinks he knows it all and obvious Spud fan) Andy Townsend (negative views against us) Mark Lawrenson (Liverpool bias) Clive Tyldesley (bias commentary torwards Manchester United and Liverpool always seems disapointed when we score)
Phil Thompson annoys the **** out of me on soccer Saturday too with his "and everything" and the way he goes ballistic when any team takes a shot on goal.
Watched the fa cup final live on itv but recorded skysports news to see Phil Thompsons reaction and he looked so sick and p i s s e d off lol hate him too.
I think Mark Lawrenson is OK! Obviously he has a Liverpool bias--but I'd have a Chelsea bias if I was doing his job! Garth Crooks behaves like a Shakesperian actor, whatever he happens to be talking about! Dont watch Burley(remember him chasing about at SB without any teeth) or Tyldsley, so its got to be Townsend! I dont know what axe he has to grind, but as a former Chelsea captain, he should choose his words a bit more carefully!
Shared 1st place for me. Garth Crooks....... his facial expressions alone make me want to jump into the telly and throttle the ****er! ..................has he substituted oxygen for doughnuts ? ........what a lump !!! Andy Townsend.....What a ****ing disgrace to the shirt that bloke is.
Oh and i'd like to throw Robert William Savage into the mix .......................talk sport jester, absolute **** !!!
Almost any ex-Liverpool player of the 70s and 80s, but here's my list Craig Burley Andy Townsend Alan Hansen Mark Lawrenson Steve Nichol Charlie Nicholas Garth Crooks Clive Tyldesley John Aldridge Alan Smith
There was a scientific study done by a university research group on what makes a voice interesting. Not the content obviously but what harmonics, modulation and pitch people prefer. Once they had defined what they believed what made the pleasing voice, one that people enjoyed and also took notice of and more importantly understood the information given by it, they then looked specifically at sports commentators. They used their criteria plus playing clips of them to subjects who were blindfolded, then asked to give a score out of a hundred. Then both scores were combined. Unsurprisingly John Motson topped the list. This is nothing to do with his football knowledge, purely the sound of his voice. Of course there will be people who say they don't like it, but I think he hit two thirds of the criteria (60% +). Clive Tyldesley came bottom (20%). Four fifth's of people actually find his voice actively annoying. This isn't his fault, voice is a product of cultural upbringing, the area you grew up in, regional and environmental influences. One of the researches also stated that his voice aggravated so many people that he should not be working in any vocal communication job. What this does show is that people do not get employed purely on their ability. Clive Tyldesley is not going to lose his job and indeed hasn't since these results came out about four years ago. He is backed by his employer for a start and there are people reading this going Clive Tyldesley is the greatest. Bearsonally I had been complaining about Clive Tyldesley on footie forums from long before the study came out. Forget his voice, I heard him once ramble on about his holidays and the photo's he took in the middle of a commentary, and I'm thinking he'll link this to something in the match in a minute. Nope.
DPB---that is a nice interpretation of what the employers should be looking for when they offer contracts to to these presenters/pundits! I wonder if it was ever used in the selection interviews for Boxings Harry Carpenter, Formula 1's Murray Walker or Tennis's Dan Maskell! Natural gifts for this specialised work, soon become apparent---but as far as I can see, from the choices given, for all the years they've been doing it--are still yet to make a positive impact on me!
May I join in? Steve Claridge is an utter ****. Last season, when we were in the top 2 from day 1. All he did was criticise us, our players, our tactics and put all our success down to luck.
Can't believe no one has mentioned Tony Gale? My top five tosspots are; 1) Tony Gale 2) Craig Burley 3) Trevor Francis 4) Andy Townsend 5) Garth Crooks
i have always liked townsend as he was a good player for us but after hearing him utter "ramires doesn't have a trick" i have decided he must be knocking around with trevor francis !!
I remember Francis commentating on one game (think it was City at home) saying ALL the Chelsea players should be booked after scoring for leaving the pitch without permission. What an absolute cock.
