In today's Mail On Sunday it stated that a consortium of the Qatrai Royal family are looking at a possible buy out of either Newcastle or Fulham. Would we be happy at a £40 Billion owner or not.
Personally, I wouldn't as we'd become as hated as Man. city, Chelsea, Liverpool in trying to buy a title with merceneries. What are your views?

**** yeah I don't give a **** what anyone else says they are ****ing liars.

This will never happen though mate! Ashley won't sell even if he knew what it would mean for us. Someone like Mohammed Al Fayed has the fans at heart more and would broker the deal.

I'm fairly certain once we signed Messi and Ronaldo you would get over other clubs hating us mate. Most people do hate us anyway.

Not bothered, want trophies but they is some kinda extra pride in the way we are doing things right now. Could see Ashley selling the club this summer if the right offer comes in.

It would most likely be Fulham. Al Fayed sold Harrods to some Qatari's, maybe those involved fancy a slice of Fulham too?

Nah, I wouldn't be happy. There's an effort here, right now, to get some sort of sustainable model. I want that to continue. Sure it would be fun while the Royal Family owned the team, but once they lose interest, what then? The club was around a long time before I was born, and I'd like it to be there after I die.

(Not saying I'm a huge Ashley fan, but at least he's a hard nosed businessman who's put a lot of wrong things right. Even if he is an annoying prick sometimes).

I'd have them in like. The model doesn't have to change with new owners. But we would always be capable of that wow signing with serious money behind us.

The model doesn't have to change. But it would. A bunch of billionaire oil rich Princes aren't going to sit around waiting to see how high it can go.

And what happens when they lose interest and dump the team?

I prefer the way things are now, where the club is trying to become completely sustainable on its own merits and a force in football in its own right. Not some team that is tied to the whims of a foreign owners purse strings.

Bottom line is, I'll always support Newcastle, whatever division they're in, however well they are doing. But I always want Newcastle to be there for me to support. So before anything else I want a club that is on sound financial footing, not some plaything of a foreign billionaire.

The thing is mate, because we are becoming financially self sustaining, we are a more attractive commodity to an investor. With the financial fair play rules coming in, we wouldn't be able to go daft splashing the cash anyway as Newcastle as a club don't make anywhere near what the so called top clubs in England are making. There will be loop holes through so called sponsorship deals which will be exploited to allow rich clubs to splash the cash, but by definition, only being able to spend what you earn should guard against any future financial problems now that our house is just about in order. Once ashle gets his 140mil back, we should be in no danger.

    NO!!!

Am I the only one that doesn't want to see a change in management or ownership?

I like the way the club is running now!!! There's stability! Ashley is a ****, but he's doing what's best for the club right now and making some great decisions.

The fact that it's a consortium probably means that the new owners probably wouldn't be willing to pump much cash in anyway. If they're not rich or willing enough to pay the amount required to buy the club, I doubt they'll pay much towards transfers.

I might be wrong, but I'd rather just see the current "line up" stay for a few years.

Good call, Ashley, despite his many flaws, has worked wonders for you, he's brought financial stability and that's important in these poor economic times.

I like how we're doing. The other aspect is that I don't see how getting multi-billion pound investors would suddenly have us winning things, we'd still be behind Man City, Man Utd, Chelsea, Tottenham and Arsenal in the pecking order for players and three of those could match any bids we made anyway so our best hope would be to be players 4th choice out of the English teams.

The assumption that getting money means we'd win things only really works if you also assume other teams/owners aren't so bothered any more.

I take warped pride out of the way we are doing things and our balance sheet, let Ashley keep winning us round - genuinely respect the guy now (don't like him but i doubt he cares about that - fair play).

Also... I still think that in 10 years half the teams that currently make up the premiership will have gone into administration, its all so unsustainable. If we can keep our books balanced we'd end up being comfortably top ten just by surviving and then creaming off players from teams who have gone bust. Its not a very ambitious or romantic view of how to become a top team but i think its realistic.

    Just my view on it.

We will be able to sit back in 10 years time when the bubble bursts with all these foreign 'investors'.

I can see the likes of Manchester City and Chelski going to the wall because they simply aren't big enough to sustain their level of expenditure. It'll be like a domino effect when it happens though. People just need to cast their eyes over to Italy to see what years of indulgent spending have brought. I for one hope it happens here. We will be one of the clubs to come out of this laughing. So no, I wouldn't want a foreign sugardaddy.

We're arguably in the strongest financial position of all clubs in the league. We're one big sponsorship deal (stadium naming rights?) from being a financial powerhouse, perhaps not at the same level as Utd, Chelsea or Liverpool but without huge debts over our heads.

We aren't a million miles away from squaring up Slim Mike's interest free loan and when that day comes, we're going to see some serious ****.

I want us to be run as a business and a football club, not as a plaything. Blackburn fans were so excited about becoming a force under Venkys but you cannot trust these random 'investors'.

We have a wonderful set up right now, Ashley isn't a football man but he knows how to run a business and isn't afraid to make unpopular choices. Pardew is great at man management and overall is a good manager, more importantly he has a good relationship with the chairman. Carr and his team are given the freedom to find new talent (no Abromovich demanding Torres) and are working to MA's guidelines, young, well-priced players who will improve the matchday squad.

I don't want us to revert to how we used to be, divided boardroom, meddling and Berbatov up front on £100kpw.

Not fussed. Not something we can change so I took the view a while ago that what will be will be as far as ownership goes. Ashley has done well of late after making a pigs ear of it in the first half of his reign. If he stays and keeps on the current path I'll be happy. If some other owners come in and stay on the same path I'll be happy. The ownership is not really that important, its how interested they are and the decisions they make. Ashley seems to have gone hands on and its shown. I don't think we look like we need billions spent on us but there is no doubt money is still a key factor in winning things.
