Well I thought we played very well. City looked more energetic due to having the extra few days rest and preparation time.

I think 0-1 would have been a good reflection on the same, 0-2 was a bit harsh, but we were going for it and they broke and scored.

Their winning goal was just pure quality, and I was saying to a lot of people before the game that Tevez and Aguero weren't my nightmare. Yaya Toure was the big problem. Such strength and pace. Awesome, and he was the difference. He could have had a hat trick, and he's their defensive midfielder? He's the only player in Tiote's position better than him, and he's worth every bit of his transfer fee.

I think both teams were excellent, but Man City just simply had more class and won the game because of it.

    Ratings -

Krul - 7 - Couldn't really do anything about the goals. Apart from his kicking he was good.

Perch - 8 - Great performance. Apart from that one mistake where we let Barry totally rape him in the air and out muscle him, he did well.

Willo - 8 - Apart from that ****ty attempt of a backwards header that almost lead to a City goal, he was solid really.

Colo - 8.5 - Some fantastic play. Beautiful standing tackles to save us at times, and great all round play.

Santon - 8 - Good strength and aerial power shown. Good performance, good runs forward.

Ben Arfa - 8- Hats of to Clichy, he's basically the perfect player to mark Ben Arfa. Ben Arfa was quiet at times, the 4-4-2 formation doesn't really help, as he's better in a 4-3-3, but he did some great defending, good all round work, and some great moments in attack, and nearly scored.

Cabaye - 8 - Some great passes, we could have scored from a beautifully waited long pass from him to start the move, when he found Ben Arfa. Great defending, good performance.

Tiote - 8 - He had to risk being sent off today to do his job. Some really ****ty attempts of tackles at times, but that was probably just do to the agility most City players possess. He was vital today. Without him we would have got raped down the middle. Good performance.

Jonas - 8.5 - Thought he was excellent. Great defending, tackle, great work and threatening going forward.

Ferguson - 7.5 - He's a very useful player. Good pace, he's got a good tackling ability. I can see this great plan Pardew has when he's going for the win. Take of Perch/Simpson, put Santon RB, put Jonas and Fergie LM/LB as a nice little duo. He's a cracking little player. Did a good job. With some more game time, he could be a very useful squad player.

Raylor - 7 - Good job when he came on, some good balls forward.

Shola - 7 - I literally lol'd my arse off when I saw him in the CB position making an interception XD I love Shola when he's not a regular starter. I will always love him, but when he's behind a striker or two in the pecking order, he works very hard all round the pitch, and does a great job. Good performance.

Ba - 7 - Some good attempts on goal. He really needs just one goal to get him going again. He made some great touches, and there were so many great things he did but just couldn't quite just execute the final pass. In form Ba would have made a difference today. He made some great passes at times though. Good effort.

Cisse - 8 - This guy never stops impressing me. Not only is he a good finisher, he's good decent vision and he can pick out a player.

MOTM - Colo for me. He stopped some great City moves, with some fantastic tackles and his all round play were excellent. Consistency ftw.

    HTL!!

I just couldn't feel disappointed at the end. I wasn't gutted at all. I was really, really emotional at the end, almost had a few tears. Amazing atmosphere, fans were fantastic, even when we were losing. Yeah there were a couple thousand boo boys that left because the're ****ers, but I can take comfort and joy in the fact that 90%+ of our fans are loyal and loving.

We were in the game until Mancini brought De Jong on and moved Toure higher up, however I have to say I think City deserved to win and are the best team in the league. We have to beat Everton now but even if we don't it's been great. It's all still to play for and if a few goals go are way next week we might still do it. I think Pardew had good tactics today but everytime we broke today the amazing Kompany stood up. If not they tood the yellows at the right moments.

I watched at home and **** me the commentators were so bias it was disgusting really. This irish **** was litterally saying he wanted City to score.

Watched the game and you did ok and I thought you might have a chance of nicking it at the end but you were undone by a bit of class but there's no shame in that.

Agree with your ratings and most of what you say apart from yaya being the only player better then Tiote in CDM role. Think you guys overhype him to much, yes he hassles and is strong in the tackle, good leader etc but is he as good as Song, Lucas, Sandro, Parker, Fellaini?

    No imo.

Overhyped player of the year, step forward Scott Parker...I used to really like him when he was here but 90% of his passes go backwards or sideways - you may brush this off as an overzealous Toon fan, but my response would be to watch him and you'll see!

XD He's better than Song. Song is better creatively and pace wise, but Tiote is a class ahead of Song and Sandra in the defensive midfielder role. Also Tiote is far stronger, and far more of a nightmare for CM's than Parker. Parker has better creative skills, but Tiote is much better at the holding/defensive midfield role.

Fellaini is probably on par with Tiote.

Tiote and Fellaini are both great in that role. Fellaini offers more going forward, but I think Tiote has great acceleration, the pace over a short distance to launch in on a player, and better precision in the tackle, and is better as an all round DM just.

Tiote and Fellaini both great, about equal.

There's a load of overhyped "defensive midfielders" that play in the same position as Tiote but don't do the actual job as a defensive player as well.

Only Yaya Toure is better IMO. I think Tiote is a bit more precise in the tackle than Yaya, and has greater agility, but as an all round defensive player, Yaya is better than Tiote, and a proper beast.

He bases his entire opinion on this one game. Tiote was carries off on a stetcher on Wed night also. If City had played all everyone would be saying is how tired they were because of it, however not a whisper if that factor for us after 60 mins in.

With those player ratings for the Newcastle players, I have to say, hand on heart, that you rate their performance so positively, it makes the win taste all the more sweeter. Knowing that we beat a Newcastle side, who have proved this season that they are where they are on merit, and who played so well in the game today, were the form team in the premier league, and on your own patch, just fills me with pride as a City fan.

I'll make no secret of it - I was dreading this game today and felt it would be one of the toughest games we've had this season. In some respects, I felt it would be harder than the derby game on Monday night. That we came through it, and that there were no real contentious decisions of significance, just makes me feel proud to be a City fan.

And full credit to Newcastle for the season that you've had. I genuinely hope that you get the CL spot your performances this season deserve.

Seen quite a lot of him this season actually mate, not that impressed.

You should snap someones arm of if you get an offer of 20m there's plenty of class CDM around.

Parker and Sandro were maybe poor examples, but the others are better imo.

At the end of the day, as a defensive midfield beast, only Yaya Toure is better than him in the PL.

Song and Parker are good players, and better creatively than Tiote, but defensively, they are not.

He's miles better than that ugly smoggy **** Cattermole, so lets leave it at that eh?

    ;(

Vincent Kompany on twitter: Don't let the "big four" fool you, Newcastle are cormfortabely amongst the best in the league. No leaving St. James without bruises. #Fact Good feeling when the best defender in the world says this.
