Ross Flitney - 5 Didn't overwhelm me with confidence and may not ever reclaim the number 1 shirt
Barry Fuller - 5 Looked okay when he was fit but has been injured for a worrying amount of time
Andy Frampton - 3 Worst player of the season, its embarrassing that he is captain and needs to be got rid off
Charlie Lee - 7 Fantastic player and if he didn't pick up a comical amount of cards he could of been Player of the Year
Simon King - 6 Played well when he has played but hasn't played enough to warrant anything higher than a 6
Garry Richards - 6 Surprisingly good this season and was a shame he was injured against Barnet. Good partnership with Essam
Chris Whelpdale - 8 - Sensational player who has been solid all season and scored some amazing goals
Jack Payne - 6 Yes he is young but hasn't blown me away again this year. Maybe worth cashing in this summer
Danny Kedwell - 8 Gillingham through and through and some mind boggling efforts put in. Needs more goals from open play
Curtis Weston - 5 Good player on his day but he should go this summer as has not shown his quality for a long time now.
Dennis Oli - 6 Surprisingly good this year and will hold my hands up. Doesn't deserve a new contract but has gone out on a high
Joe Martin - 6 Solid left back, nothing special but is very dependable at the back and one of the first names on the team sheet.
Matt Lawrence - 4 Been past it all season. Not his fault but shouldn't really of been here this year. Good luck for the future
Matt Fish - 4 Not good enough for league football. May have only been cover for fuller but has failed to do that successfully. Poor signing.
Danny Spiller - 6 Good at times, probably no better than substitute or reserve but can do a good job when he is needed.
Danny Jackman - 8 Player of the Year and deservedly so. Really pleasant surprise this season and should help form the core of the new squad.
Lewis Montrose - 5 Not lived up to expectation and seems to get lost in the game. Not acceptable when he is 6'4 and strong as an ox.
Callum Davies - 5 Young and developing but not seen enough to give him anymore than a 5.
    Dean Rance - N/A
Connor Essam - 7 - Is the future of the football club needs to be signed up on a long term deal. Very good second half of the season.
Rowan Vine - 6 - To give Hessenthaler credit he made a good signing in Vine. Payed nothing for a useful attacking option.
    Jack Evans - N/A
    Alex Brown - N/A
    Darren Hawkes - N/A
    Tom Brunt - N/A
Paulo Gazzaniga - 8 - Best goalkeeper we have had for a long time. Deservedly the young player of the season.
    Adam Birchall - N/A
Ashley Miller - 6 - Young and talented but needs to work hard over the summer and get some more match time.
    Joe Carter - N/A
Jo Kuffour - 6 - Season of two half's. Great on loan, poor on permanent. Tough choice whether to sign him for longer or not.
Gavin Tomlin - 7 - Great addition this season and has to be made permanent in the summer.

So what do you think? Agree or disagree?

Ross Flitney - Did not have a problem with him in goal but always preferred to see the then unknown Gazza, memory fades on good/bad points for Flitney
Barry Fuller - Again to long ago to judge.
Andy Frampton - I seem blinkered to his faults?
Charlie Lee - On my team sheet every time.
Simon King - Sign on another one year deal, still a good player.
Garry Richards - Sorry never was for me.
Chris Whelpdale - Couple of cracking goals this season but needs to stay more focused and lacks effort at times when we can ill afford it.
Jack Payne - On my team sheet every time.
Danny Kedwell - Not a striker. Midfield maybe?
    Curtis Weston - No comment.
Dennis Oli - Thanks for the ending Dennis but sorry its goodbye.
Joe Martin - Ask Gemini - lol
Matt Lawrence - Got a lot of very unfair stick. Time to turn his back on us. Repeat sentiment, good luck for the future.
Matt Fish - Not for me, but maybe time will tell, I started to edge in his favour the last few games, if it works out, he will have a lot to thank Hessy for.
    Danny Spiller - Undecided.
Danny Jackman - Player of the Year, enough said.
Lewis Montrose - Not sure, like his strength, which we lack at times in the team.
    Callum Davies - N/A
    Dean Rance - N/A
Connor Essam - Sign that contract NOW!
    Rowan Vine - Undecided.
Jack Evans - Good right back and movement forward on the ball, some faults need ironing out and he will make a good player.
    Alex Brown - N/A
    Darren Hawkes - N/A
    Tom Brunt - N/A
Paulo Gazzaniga - Repeat sentiments - Best goalkeeper we have had for a long time. Deservedly the young player of the season.
    Adam Birchall - N/A
Ashley Miller - I like to give the young lad a chance but just worry about his physical strength, needs to bulk up down the gym - lol
    Joe Carter - N/A
Jo Kuffour - To lazy imo. Also question his strengths. Goodbye.
Gavin Tomlin - Sign him NOW!

Short of Jackman and Payne no one deserves more than a 5 for the season... the big name signing of Kedwell, Lee and Whelpdale have been especially disappointing as none has lived up to the hype

Whelpdale has been great, I know he had a slow start but he has been great, Lee has been class aswell, the only problem is a few injuries and his yellows cards which has resulted in him missing a few games, he has been good at the back and also he has done well on the goals front, did not expect him to get as many as he did, think he ended up with 6 which is one of his best amounts of goals in a season.

Hoadie, both have shown flashes of brilliance agreed but not at consistancy required to be classed as a good season for me

Couldn't quite believe it when I read that Martin was `dependable at the back` and `one of the first names on the teamsheet.

He's an absolute liability. Poor defensively and offers little to nothing going forward.

BSG bear in mind that Charlie Lee has also been playing out of position for the majority of the game time that he did get. Whelpdale seemed disillusioned at the midway point but eventually started putting the team on his back. Kedwell isn't the natural finisher that we want, instead I feel he is the Bayo of a Bayo/Cody partnership, wait on Birch or new signing to see what he can offer, but as a midfielder?! I couldn't see it. Martin has been hit and miss, not the reliable sort that is required to get us out of the league but defensively better than Nutter. If he had a good, reliable centre back inside of him perhaps he would benefit.

I have no particular wish to defend Joe Martin and I think much of the criticism in recent weeks has been justified but am I the only one who can remember him playing quite well in the early part of the season. If players have played well at some stage and then deteriorate it is worth trying to understand why especially when they are here for another season, like it or not.
On the "Big 3" signings of Kedwell/Whelpdale/Lee the jury must still be out. Kedwell was never going to be a prolific scorer but his role was to make chances for Birchall, for obvious reasons we still do not know if he would have been successful in this role. Whelpdale was hugely disappointing for the first half but has done consistently well since January and judged by recent performances looks like being a success. Lee must carry the biggest question mark. He looks half a stone heavier than a year ago. He has cost many points through errors and non availability through suspensions and seems to think he can carry on with his own brand of stupidity. Does he not realise that he cannot challenge successfully once he has been yellow carded in a match? Does he not understand he cannot play at all once he has collected three cards? Saturday's cameo was typical. Two goals, many good deeds but a yellow card for a tackle from behind NEXT TO THE OPPOSITION CORNER FLAG. This just cannot be allowed to go on next season.
