Hello and welcome to the all new and improved Match day Hub which is now the official place for Gillingham fans, I decided to update this so that you will know where to go and chat before and during the game.
This is here to replace the match day thread and the Starting Line up Prediction, this is where you will now be able to post all your team predictions and score updates. You can now just spend your match day in one place if you are not at the game.

This is the thread for the upcoming game, I always post this thread before each game so that you can express your views on the corresponding fixture and can talk between each other during the game,
You can post your team predictions before the game, you may include the starting 11 plus the subs which you think will be in the team, no points awarded for your predictions it is just for fun, it allows you to start a healthy debate between each other about the team which we will play or what it should be.
If you wish you can post updates freely about the game and chat between yourselves, you are also free to talk about other games bizarre or not.
This is open to both Gillingham fans and also the opposition
After the match I will allow you all to create a summary on this thread and I will also provide extra details on the game if they are required or if I want to point anything out. You can talk about what was good about the game and what could have been better. During the game I will update the score and the team sheets as soon as they are available, also at the end I will add the table to this thread as it stands.

This is here permanently so you will not see the Match day thread or the starting line up prediction threads as this is them combined.
This is the last game of the season so maybe you might want to see a totally different side or stick with the same.

It may not have been the best of seasons for you e.g missing out on play-offs for second successive season, but it would be great if you can go out on a high by beating Morecambe. It would give a tremendous boost to the players who are just as gutted as you all are for not making it a successful season. Those of you who are going on Saturday make some noise for the boys and make sure you give them a standing ovation at the end when they do their lap of honour round the stadium. Whichever players do end up staying at Priestfield let's hope they can keep their heads up and do better next season.

I will be working at Kingsmeadow where the Dons end their season against already-promoted Shrewsbury, but will keeping check on the scores from Priestfield.

I will go with the squad I want to see, that is,

    Gazzaniga
    Evans
    Essam
    King
    Carter
    Whelpdale
    Lee
    Dack
    Jackman
    Miller
    Kedwell

    Subs
    Flitney
    Harry Brown
    Alex Brown
    Tom Brunt
    Jake Hessenthaler

I doubt we will see this, I think it will be something more like this

    Gazzaniga
    Fish
    Essam
    Frampton
    Martin
    Whelpdale
    Lee
    Montrose
    Jackman
    Kedwell
    Kuffour

    Subs
    Flitney
    King
    Weston
    Spiller
    Oli

Probably will be this exact team.

Whelpdale and Weston could be ruled out for this game, Whelps is injured and Weston has food poisoning.

Hessenthaler said that Alex Brown could be included either starting or on the bench, would be nice to see him to add to the few young ones we have seen this season, it has been a great year for young players coming through.
Jack Payne could be back though which is good, so my team that I actually think it will be is as followed

    Gazzaniga
    Fish
    Essam
    Frampton
    Martin
    Spiller
    Lee
    Montrose
    Jackman
    Kedwell
    Kuffour

    Subs
    Flitney
    King
    Payne
    Alex Brown
    Miller

But this is the team I would like to see

    Gazzaniga
    Evans
    Essam
    King
    Jackman
    A.Brown
    Dack
    Lee
    Spiller
    Miller
    Kedwell

    Subs
    Flitney
    Carter
Harry Brown (Not sure if they are related but he is a bit younger than Alex, I read that he come into the youth team earlier this season, don't know what he is like)
    Tom Brunt
    Jake Hessenthaler

I don't think we will see that, I think it will probably be the one above this team.

Those of you who are going to the game tomorrow hope you enjoy and that the Gills finish on a high. Also those of you who were lucky enough to get a ticket for the Player-of-the-Year awards after the match have a great time and hope that the player you chose is the winner.

    Speak soon

    Take care and best wishes

    Regards

    Bernie

Hopefully the winner will either be Whelpdale or Jackman, I think the winner will be a midfielder though as my top 4 are Whelpdale, Jackman, Lee and Payne, I think Kedwell will be a bit off this year, but hopefully next year will be his year when he fires us into League 1.

At least we are one nil up, could do with a win today to end on a high, even thought it don't mean **** all, it would be good to win well to show how well they can do.

It's a little annoying that the way things stand if Crewe had not equalised in the 90th last week we would be in the playoff places. It looks like it's going to be a solitary point that keeps us from an extended season.

Lets not get bogged down in selfpity... we had our chance to make the playoffs but defeats against the likes of D&RFC and the failing to beat Northampton proves we aren't good enough to go up

Such a shame how we missed out looking at what we done today, just have to see what happens over the next few days and see what happens to Hess, just hope that we don't lose good players.

A good win for the lads today and even more pleasing that my thoughts about Charlie Lee were paid off with two goals. However, the result does not fool me and sadly today demonstrated imo that Hessy does not have what is required to give us something different in his selections. It was nothing more than a good 2-0 win against an otherwise poor Morecambe side.

Highlights of the game for me, Gazza, Lee, Jackman, Payne, Essam and a little mention for Alex Brown getting a brief chance to come on for his debut.

Disappointments and they sadly need to move on, Kuffour (was I the only one that did not applaud him off the pitch?), Kedwell is not a striker, Joe Martin (noticed him and Framps having words), Vine (no point in paying his wages to sit on the bench).

    Brb,
The poor Morcambe side you refer to have only lost 6 games away all season (before today) only Crawley have lost less.

Now I am as frustrated as everyone with us coming close again only to miss out but not sure what your point is here. Had Hess changed things around and we'd won by loads people would have moaned that he should have done it sooner and blah blah blah,

As for your comments about the players I can't really say much cos I cannot go anywhere near as much as I want to but, Kuffour we were warned about him by the gas that he starts off well then loses interest and in all honesty when things got tough he has kind of hid, Kedwell brings more than just goals and was brought to the club to be a foil to Birchill, joe Martin well I just think you don't like him and you've made that clear more often than not, as for Vine well I thought we weren't paying his wages and he came to us pretty much free of any charge?

This season, although disappointing in the final outcome has not been as bad as everyone is making out. We have finished off 2 points better off than last season, which would have had us in the playoffs last year and maybe this year has been tougher than anyone expected, we are also top scorers in the league and without having had to rely on a single goal scorer but instead spread the goals around and after losing Cody last season and Birchall before the start of this season I didn't see that happening.

While I am in no disillusionment that our short comings are our of our own making I think that we still have the foundation for a good team next season and with a few additions to both players and backroom staff we can still be proud if more than a little disappointed.

brb - Frampton had a nerve in complaining to Martin. Frampton was missing from the left side of centre - to where the ball was played - to the player in acres of space. Martin was busy on the left touchline trying ( failing ) to stop the winger from playing the aforementioned pass.
Why was Montrose allowed to remain on the pitch for so long. I got a huge laugh in the Gordon Road stand when Montrose was flaggged for off-side. I told the linesman that Montrose wasn't off-side as he never interferes with play.
If I was Vine I would have wished that I hadn't bothered to put on the kit. Kedwell needed to come off ( several games ago .)

I'm with Gemini as a knee jerk reaction now would possibly upset everything for next season.

We do not need to go totally back to the drawing board......the team does need tweaking and so does the management a tad. That does not mean Hess needing to go.....a good coach with a footballing brain as a number two and a young fit and willing to die for the club back four is all that is needed. Plenty of goals in the team this season and I see just as many next. UTG

would just like to say if hess and shadow remain, the likes of richards, frampton, fish, martin, kedwell and montrose will remain also and to me that is another so called disaster waiting in the wings !

even today he could of tried a few different things i.e. tactics & other players, evans has not played since being slated, davies not had a chance to shine before hand injury, king wasted on the bench...and feel very sorry for him, with it maybe being his last game and no send off.
miller scores and not played since?, brunt not given a game when we're losing game after game, plus brown given a few minutes to prove worth a new deal....sorry hess...you are as alot of fans have said...CLUELESS, and see no change for the future season, just more blah blah blah to keep your job !

HESS PLEASE GO AND TAKE YOUR SO CALLED STAFF !!! :emoticon-0149-no:

BRB, Vine is at the club while QPR pay all his wages, I remember seeing it on bbc website where Hessenthaler said it was a no brainer with us paying no wage he might aswell join the club, however he has not been that good from what I have seen of him and to just sit on the bench it has been pointless, Miller should have played instead.

I think one of our main problems is Frampton, he is not good enough, at the start of the season when I see that we have signed him I thought it was a good signing but during the season he has got worse and worse and it pisses me off when I think about how he could be starting next season, I am sure if he went and we brought in someone else it would be much better, I believe Richards and King are much better than him but I wonder if they will be at the club next season, I doubt we will see King in a Gills shirt again.
