Oh right, it was 'threads started by wishiwasinliverpool'. A lot of exclamation marks and swearing in the titles...

Compare our centre mid alone a couple of years ago we had Mascherano and Alonso giving Gerrard that free role he thrived on. Now I know Gerrard has had injury problems, is getting old and lost the odd yard of pace but he can still do that job well behind the striker/s but the problem was Gerrard had to stay in the centre of mid as Spearing and Henderson were constantly losing the ball and we started off very badly and compared to Chelseas star studded midfield it was a battle we lost almost at the first whistle.

Carrolls performance was postivie and I hope and I'm sure that we have learnt our mistakes and start looking to strengthen by buying in Europe etc instead of looking for 'Premier league experience and buy british' mentality.

Fair play to him, I hope he can take that performance and build on it.

For the record... I still do not think Henderson is a bad signing.. He is young and maybe does not deserve a place in the first team (my opinion). But in 3 years he could be top quality. He is the type of player we should play in our reserves for a few season and bring him in to the first team for a few cameos just like we did with Spearing last year.

Moving on to Spearing (I know i talk about him a lot). I think the man (he is 23) is useless and we should sell him ASAP. Even if he does develop I can only see him developing into a sub-par midfielder, not the type to get us into the top 4.

In terms of Charlie Adam.. I never thought he was top quality.. But I felt he could of been a squad player for a top 4 side.. The general reason for why Adam was bought is because we needed someone to play behind the striker and slightly above a good defensive midfielder (Lucas). However we have played him out of position and due to Lucas not being in the side that much; he has not bedded in and been a very poor signing.

However Im very disappointed that Meireles and Aquilani left the club. There purpose was again to play further up beside Lucas and behind the striker. This was maybe why they were sold on (due to us having lots of players in this position. But I feel we had too much faith in Adam; Both these player in my opinion would of been a better option.

Enrique and Suarez are givens.. Though I am disappointed in the amount of times Suarez had hit the bar (this guy must be cursed of something).

Carroll I do not think fits our system... We do not provide him with enough crosses and we play in such a fashion in which it annoys Carroll and makes him come out the box to receive the ball.. Mind you I think our system is questionable; Perhaps we should try to adapt it to Carroll so that he can receive better service?

This leads me on to Downing... I feel this player is average at best.. I will say no more.

Yeah, I'm not going to get on Hendo's back. Think he will be an important player for us in a couple of years.

Agree with most of this assessment. Spearing is often excused for his 'passion and commitment' but I'd honestly rather have a player with half his passion if they had the ability to make up for it.

I cannot agree more with the Carroll and Downing part...I gave Henderson the benefit of the doubt when he joined but he's been poor in the Carling Cup final and now today...I know he's young and maybe you are right as Lucas was young when he first started with us and didnt particularly perform well but look at him now we desperately miss him and his defensive cover he's been a huge loss for us.

Sell Downing, get a better winger who can actually cross the ball that beats the first man or isnt overhit. I was jealous when I saw how well Mata played for Chelsea I desperately wanted us to sign him but we can't compete with the big teams without Champions League football. Big task in the summer hopefully we get it right and look to the future and this whole season is a big learning curve for the team.

One LPool fan is reported to have told the BBC "Is Kenny's P45 in the post?".

No doubt many are wondering (and wishing perhaps) the same thing!

He doesn't deserve to lose his job over a cup final.

Ok so many fans want Kenny out? Who would we get to replace? Many of you forget it took Rafa two years to build up his squad before we challenged properly for the title therefore I'm inclined to give Kenny some more time even though I've been left frustrated and angered at the signings and how poor they have been.

Also we have won the Carling Cup (yes just about against a lower league team) but most importantly we won and we won our first piece of silverwear for 5 years but at least we've made some slight progress and several appearances at Wembley this season compared to before this season started we hadn't been to the new Wembley. Yes the league campaign has been disappointing and poor we desperately need a finisher and a winger and another centre mid.

To be honest I'm in two minds about whether Kenny should go or not but let the end of the season get here hopefully we play some of the young guns giving them a chance to see what they can do and what they have to offer (namely sterling and suso etc)

I doubt that anyone would suggest any manager should lose his job based on only one game, whatever the level of importance. The point is, does his record this year merit his continuing as manager?

I've actually been very critical of him and have called for his head at the end of the season a number of times.

I'm leaning towards another year now though.

See what happends over the summer and next year.

    But yes it's been aweful.

Well I'm leaning towards us giving Kenny more time as this was his first full season coming back and the football that we have played at times has been top quality we haven't had luck on our side in terms of hitting the woodwork (31 times and counting). We need some strong signings in the summer as well as trying to get the youth players into the squad I geniunely think this summer is the most important one in the history of Liverpool we deseperately need to close the gap on the top 4 next season we desperately need to bring back champions league football.

The result today was close, but Chelsea were on top right up to the time when Carroll scored. Threreafter, Chelsea were on the rack and were fortunate to keep the score at 2-1.
Di Matteo may well have been the difference between the two sides, for since he took over on 4 March, Chelsea have only lost 2 of 9 league games and have played like a team reborn. 'King' Kenny has not made the same impression and this showed today, in my opinion.

    Time to abdicate??
