I've often thought the same about you I want us to win the league, the Champions League, the FA cup and the Carling Cup. But I also realise that we have to be realistic about what we can achieve at the moment, and top 4 is all that's available. If we make the necessary signings in the summer, then I think we can think more about winning the top competitions. I want success, I'm just being pragmatic about the situation and not spiraling off into a pit of doom about it.
Unfortunately our ship has sunk. I am not sure many realise just waht is in store for us if we slip out of the top four. I am sure some think it will all be ok - as they have year in year out as we have become worse and worse. Football is in a pivotal era right now - due to the amount of money in the game. Those not at the top table over the next 3 years will find it almost impossible to compete again. The only thing that will change that is FFP, but I dont belive that will be worth the paper it is written on. The kind of players we will be able to attract next year if we fail to make the CL are the Darren Bent's and Charlie Adams of this world. No top player will want to play for us. Even with CL football, Wenger has been shown to not foster an loyalty in his players. Just imagine if there was no CL on offer - they would be jumping ship in a heart beat.
After 8 years - your pragmatism is a little stale. So: Sack Wenger Bring in someone like Moyes and Keown - change the training methods and style of play from top to bottom (including setting up tactically for EACH game) Thin the squad down to 45-50 pro's Pay top stars top dollar and lock them into contracts Review the medical team - sack the managers of that dept and bring in people who know what they are doing Invest in players now (not tomorrow) Remove all deadwood from the team - players like Ramsey will never make it (what he did today was as bad as spitting on the Arsenal shirt in the middle of the pitch). Get rid of muppets like Hill Wood and Gazidis - and let them go and play with their model somewhere else
Actually my pragmatism is sound, we can still qualify for the CL and if we make the right signings in the summer then we can achieve more next season.

But what does achievement mean in your book? I'm not confident by your measurement of achievement, for you losing 10 games in the league, winning no trophies for 7 years, and scrapping for 4th is considered good in your books.

I think you're misjudging the term achievement. This season, achievement means qualifying for the CL. That's what I mean by pragmatism. We've got issues to address, that is clear. Until that's done, it's unrealistic to suggest we can be title winners.
The fact is you have slipped down the pecking order slightly and your behaving like it's the end of the universe. It won't help your club moaning and booing I've been there mate.
This post is the type I meant. If you think getting a CL spot is an acheivement - especially as if we do it would have been handed on a plate to us - then you really dont care about the club that much.
You are the mosT holstile person I've stumbled across in a while. I think if you qualify you can just add a couple of defenders to podolski and you will have a good season next year so just chill mate.
You are wrong to say that I don't care about the club. That's just an incorrect assumption of your own to deal with. This season, all that is left for us to achieve is a CL spot.
