My initial impression over the past year or so was that he was decent. Then I saw the Fulham game and the FA Cup final. I think my initial impression may have been wrong.
people says hes good back up, forgetting that back up players often have to play games like this. I could bear him as third choice, but second, no
This, at fault for the first and then lunged at Lampard and let him past at the 2nd. Downing however, I have never known a Liverpool player who actually angers me as much as him, he is awful. Well done Carroll though, did well, needs to keep giving the same.
Am I imagining the thread on this board calling for him to be called up by England about two weeks ago? I don't think I am. Yeah, he's **** though fair play.
Yeah but that was only the OP. 95% of people disagreed. He's ****. Had a very good spell at the end of last season, been **** since then.
They're both defensive mate. Why would you play both? He's supposed to be cover for Lucas but just isn't good enough.
I am sick and tired of our average players...Spearing, Henderson, Downing were below average once again, Enrique didnt have a great game and Reina didnt look himself today. I hope we stop buying British overpriced average players now and start to invest on great talents in Europe. Only bright to come out of this game was how well Carroll played when he came on I wish we started more positive then we did the first half was so poor, the last half an hour we dominated and did very well but once again lack of width and ideas let us down. There is a lot of work to be done in the summer hopefully we can manage to improve the squad drastically.
Well said. We have a lot of work to do. Most of the players we bought have to be sold I think. We must buy better first though which will be difficult now we're down in 8th. Whoever spent the money really has ****ed us completely.
This may come across as a knee jerk reaction but this season we've been far too inconsistant and the signings have clearly been not good enough. This summer is key every signing has to be spot on we can't afford to invest heavily again only to have the same thing to happen next season as this season. The philosophy of buying British has failed miserably but the problem we will face is we won't be able to attract the best of the best players without Champions League football so if we keep with this squad we will fall further behind Chelsea, United, City and Arsenal as they are already looking to strengthen for next season...we have to work fast otherwise Euro 2012 will cause over inflated prices for our targets if we already have some in mind.
Pardon me but for my childish rant which proceeds this message, but it has been built up for a long time: I TOLD ALL OF YOU! I was told I was a plastic fan and that I should have faith in the squad for bring players like Spearing through. I said we should sell him to someone like Aston Villa (no disrespect); but looking back I wasn't harsh enough!
When we're one or two up and the opposition are start to open us up, we throw om Spearing next to Lucas and tighten up.
Looking back on the season losing Lucas has been such a key loss to us and we have never really recovered as the rest of our centre midfield is utter garbage (except Gerrard he tried but kept have to come back meaning he couldnt support Suarez therefore Suarez was left isolated until Carroll came on) As pointed out by many fans the fact that we've spent so much money on the areas we needed improving last and we still need to improve these areas for next season speaks volumes of why our season has been so inconsistant and disappointing.
